Slapped cheek

I’m 16 weeks pregnant and I work in a special school, there’s been confirmed cases of slapped cheek in my school (children) and my class (a member of staff) unsure of children yet but I know I have 0 immunity as I was tested not long ago because we thought my son had it. I’ve not gone into school today but obviously been exposed last few weeks.

I am absolutely beside myself, can’t stop crying with worry that something is going to happen as I know this is the most crucial stage of pregnancy to catch it.

Has anyone had any similar experiences caught it around the same time? Anything that can help ease my anxiety 🤦‍♀️

First thing and it’s easy for me to say, but don’t panic. Worrying and crying aren’t going to change anything t just now so let’s take it one step at a time.
Contact your midwife, ask their advice on what happens next - is there further testing? How long should you remain off of work?
Contact your gp to get a sick line so you can remain home for a couple of weeks, this will help your anxiety levels.
Speak to your head teacher and discuss next steps. Do you have a risk assessment in place? If not then one needs to be created. If you do, did you discuss what happens when slapped cheek is in the school?

Take a deep breath, phone your Midwife and go from
there.
Make sure you take time to rest, watch a rubbish tv show and try relax for a bit.

Aw thank you! So I’ve spoken to both gp and midwife yesterday when we only knew about child case, but now the staff member (close contact) has come down with it I contacted again and waiting for gp to come back. Yesterday they said that I can’t have a blood test for another 2 weeks because of the timings, just feels like a long wait for the test and result 😩

It does feel like a long wait but try to keep yourself busy and focussed on other things. Hopefully the next two weeks will fly by!
