Where do i start?

Hi mumsnet, I've just had a positive pregnancy test!

I have no idea what i'm doing, or where to even start planning.

Tomorrow i'm going to register with the GP (just moved house, not got round to doing so!).

Do I need to inform the GP that i'm pregnant, or ask for certain appointments/scans? 😅

I'm a little overwhelmed, pretty much resigned myself to the fact I wasn't going to have kids, so this feels incredible, and i'm in disbelief. We've been trying for 20 months.

Are there any threads on here you'd recommend for first time/expecting mums to join? or websites? or good shops for all things baby?

With regards to scans and appointments, it’s not usually your GP that deals with this although that may differ by area. I had to self refer via the hospital website so it may be worth checking that first.
There is usually a thread going on here for mums due in the same month so you could look for that or start your own.
For buying baby things, I never found one specific place but rather shopped around for best deals. I would recommend checking the Asda sale items online though for smaller baby clothes as they are usually the sizes still available and can be really cheap.

Congratulations! I had to call my GP and tell them I was pregnant and then they referred me onto the midwife.

You'll find lots of helpful threads on here and also due date threads which are nice to talk to others who are due around the same time as you.

It will differ per area but I had to contact my GP to set me up with a midwife appointment for a few weeks later. She will sort out your notes, scans etc. Exciting times!!
