Measured 5w at early scan, should have been 6+1

Hi, I had a scan on 31/05 as my previous pregnancy was ectopic.
I was expecting to be 7w, however looking back at my ovulation date I think it was actually more like 6+1 as I have long cycles.
I was told there was an egg and sac that were in perfect proportion to each other, but no baby, and measuring 5w.
Is this possible when I am certain of my date of ovulation? Obviously I know we don't know when implantation happens but I had a positive test at 9dpo so I'm definitely fearing the worst. Have another scan on Friday but this is such a difficult 2 weeks 😔
Dates below for reference, anyone who is good with working these out and has any experience in this would be amazing! I'm still having my pregnancy symptoms although slightly lessened the past few days, no signs of miscarriage yet.
LMP: 13/04/24
Peak ovulation test: 02/05/24
Positive pregnancy test: 11/05/24

Thank you!

It's likely you ovulated either 3rd or 4th may as it's usually 24/48 hours after your peak ovulation test .. so I would say youre ok. I know how hard it is not knowing... I had a missed miscarriage last year and conceived again 3 cycles later and got scanned every 2 weeks so I know how it feels. Fingers crossed for you but dates don't seem out of line tbh

Thank you, I'd forgotten about it being a day or so after the peak. That certainly helps a little! Just so worried after the ectopic (at least I know it's not that this time) and the reduction of the symptoms.
Sorry to hear about your experiences x

How long are your cycles usually? I have slightly longer at 33-37 days and I had a very similar thing happen to me but the doctor explained that if you've not got the typical 28 day cycle, it may not be done from the 2 weeks before you actually conceived, but rather 2 weeks from when your next period is expected to begin, if that makes sense? It really did confuse me massively when she knows her stuff more then me so I'm just gonna have to take her word for it x

They're usually 30-35 days (vary a lot!) the previous cycle was 35 days. If I go by that, the dates will only be roughly 6/7 days out I think. But that still feels like so much! I guess I'll find out on Friday, it's just torture not knowing. Still have symptoms (although less so than before) and no signs of MC, but I keep reading that it can take weeks before you know of a MC so it's really hard keeping my head straight! I'm normally such a sane, straight thinking person usually.

How far along are you? Do you have any follow ups before the 12w scan? X

It could very well be because of your slightly longer cycle. It really didn't make sense to me at all as you're always told pregnancy starts from your last period. I went to EPU for persistent pain and they scanned me to make sure it wasn't an ectopic and I was measuring 5+2 instead of 6+1 like I thought I'd be. I actually went back this past weekend due to quite a big bleed and they've asked me back for another scan next week just to make sure but other than that, no more follow ups (unless I bleed heavier or pain increases massively), but they have tried to put my mind at ease.
If you're feeling uneasy about things, it may be worth going in or calling? They'll hopefully be able to give you a more straightforward answer. I completely understand what you mean about not knowing, it really can mess with you. If it helps, my symptoms would come and go in waves with my first pregnancy. They seemed to last forever but would then just disappear completely for a while before popping back up!

Forgot to add - going off their measurements, I'm 6+4 now but going off my apps (which I can't work out how to change 🥴) I'm 7+3 x

@stawbly thank you! That's reassuring. I'd be a little more of a gap than you but it's not impossible. Re the symptoms, it's so funny how different it can be isn't it! My first pregnancy I had no nausea whatsoever - this one has been horrible other than the odd periods of nothing! Moan like hell when I'm feeling ill then moan when I'm okay in case it means bad things lol x

These are TINY embryos at this point. The difference is like 1mm- there is a reason they don’t date formally till 12 weeks. I wouldn’t worry at this point at all

Oh it's understandable, can't seem to switch your mind off can you! Wishing you lots of luck for Friday and a happy healthy pregnancy. Much easier said than done but try to relax, pregnancy is so bloody stressful even when everything is going smoothly 🙈 x
