Cervical shock/MMC - any positive stories after experiencing this?

Hi there,

I just wanted to raise some awareness and reach out to see if anyone else has had a miscarriage which involved cervical shock where the miscarriage gets stuck in the cervix. It happened to me recently and it was SO shocking and painful and I ended up writhing around in pain in QEQM A&E. Even morphine didn't really help. It wasn't until the gynae removed the 'contents' that I instantly felt relief. The pain wasn't like anything I've experienced before, and I've had a previous ectopic! Has anyone else experienced this and did anyone go on to have a healthy pregnancy next time?

Looking for some hope x

Hi! I'm sorry that this experience was horrific for you... 💐

Yes, I had cervical shock when I had a MMC and medical management this year. It was excruciating, unbelievably excruciating. I was at home so only had regular painkillers and codeine but I ended up in A&E after things got dangerous at home. I guess more questions needed to be asked before I took the medication, but you don't really until after the fact. Also wish they explained cervical shock. I thought that I was just being really intolerant to pain, even though I am usually mind over matter. It took me hours of writhing around on the floor and collapsing etc. before realising something was up and calling the ward.

We've been trying again for a few months, hoping each month then waiting what seems like 12 years until the next fertile window!

Sorry I can't give you any more, but I really am hoping for you!! It's all so cruel.😓

I'm also looking for hope so please let me know any good news of yours!

I'm really interested in nutrition and I recommend a lady called Lily Nichols. She has an excellent book quoting thousands of studies and she talks about how outdated our guidance is. I just feel obliged to shout about her!
