i dont know if i need to say trigger warning or something; so my daughter went into labour at 39 weeks, she laboured from 9am until we took her to the hospital at about 7pm. the hospital tutted, and told her she wasn't in labour and told her to go home, take a bath and try get some sleep.

at 11.30pm she was at home, doubled in pain and began throwing up.. bowels emptied all over the place etc, so i said stuff it, put her in the car, took her back to the hospital (40 minute ride).. she arrived on the labour ward and the nurse looked at her and said, i kid you not... 'you again?'

we arrived on that ward at 0100hrs... her waters broke and she said she needed to push, the midwife asked her if she was sure? the midwife gave no instructions too her, and again my daugher said she needed to push...and she did, and delivered a healthy 7lb 5oz baby at 0151hrs! she got no pain relief, the midwife looked terrified!

while they stitiched her up... i had to hold the light for the hour or so it took to get the stitches in!

my daugher was terrified! her husband was terrified, I was terrified and the midwife was terrified.... thank god my daughter is ok, but i can't get that image of her out of my head!

Congratulations to her!

This happened to me last year.

My labour was 20 minutes long. They wouldn't even give me panadol 😭

I remember looking around the room and all the staff looked terrified. Not a nice feeling so I totally understand how unpleasant that is.

I was a bit traumatised by the speed of it but that eventually went away. Attending a birth reflections meeting helped a lot, which might be something your daughter would be interested in.
