Hi guys,

Hope you are all well.

Am currently 27weeks and, to be fair, huge. However I am going CRAZY with the 'aren't you big' and 'are you having twins' comments. It is so frustrating - I love being pregnant despite the fat feet and back ache and indigestion but when people say stuff like that I want to scream!

Even people at work who see me daily, know I am expecting one, still comment on my size. I get so angry but am not good at witty retorts.

It's like being told you are fat and I though I could have a break from that for a few months

Thanks for any suggestions or if you are in a similar place let's moan together! x

Simple.

Say "I'm pregnant. What's your excuse?"

VictorianSqualor · 07/04/2008 11:34

Just remember these people are making comments to be nice.

Sounds fkd up, but it's true.

They feel they have to make some kind of remark and are left with the choice of either 'What a neat little bump' or 'Are you sure there is only one in there' type comments.

Don't get het up about it, they just have no idea what to say and are trying to talk about your pregnancy as it's probably the most important thing to you in the world right now, though really uinteresting for them!

MrsBadger · 07/04/2008 11:35

agree people are only trying to be nice so do not biff them if you can help it

is a good idea to get used to it as it gets exponentially worse once you actually have the baby in tow ('are they good?' etc)

LynetteScavo · 07/04/2008 11:38

A few times I have said " Oh, you're not very big!" to people, then thought, "Oh dear, I shouldn't have said that"

Youcannotbeserious · 07/04/2008 11:40

NikNak - No advice really, just sympathy and to let you know the grass is not greener on the other side...

I am 34 weeks and NOT huge (finally actually LOOK pregnant, thank goodness!)

People KEEP telling me how I'll feel 'in my third trimester' and I've had a few really odd comments......

One woman refused to believe I was PG - I mean, WHY would I make that up??????????

As VS said, I think people just feel the need to say something but aren't really too sure what the right thing is to say (and is there a right thing anyway??)

nailpolish · 07/04/2008 11:41

why cant people just say "youre looking well!" or something else thats nice and covers all bases

on your behalf. it drove me nuts too

PuppyDogEyes · 07/04/2008 11:48

just looked bored with the comment or answer with 'mmm' as if you have heard that a thousand times before.

NikNakF · 07/04/2008 12:52

Thanks guys, I know most mean well but it's still frustrating!
