Has anyone found themselves to be pregnant even after testing negative?

Worrying slightly I may be pregnant. Have tested a few times and each time it’s been negative. Every night I can’t sleep as if I roll onto my side/stomach, it makes me feel so sick it keeps me awake. I don’t have any other symptoms that I remember from last time.

My DC is 11 months old, I’m breastfeeding and my period hasn’t returned. Although I thought we’d been careful the very few times we’ve had sex… could it be a possibility? Has anyone used multiple pregnancy tests which all said negative to find themselves to actually be pregnant? Just using the cheap tests… are there any brands which are more reliable? So worried as meant to be going back to work in 2 weeks time! My DH thinks I’m anxious about returning to work which is causing the symptoms.. it’s just a gut feeling.

Any advice would be much appreciated! Thank you.

Could it be indigestion/reflux making you feel ill. ? Have you tried any meds?

I did , I got a positive test a week after my negative one.

Leave it a few more days and have another test. Cost of test has no impact on reliability but do them first thing when you haven't been for a wee for hours .

Test again in a few weeks.

Cheap tests are the same as expensive tests. Expensive tests you're paying for unnecessary plastic and screens.

I had six negatives with my eldest and only got a positive from the GP. Said it was to do with less HCG as he was a boy?

Thanks all. I did the first test about a month ago and the most recent last week. Could it be negative for this amount of time?

Went to the drs last week who have done a blood test, just waiting the results.

Don’t think I’ve quite got the energy to even think about having another LO just yet. Haven’t slept for about a year 🥲

I did - last pregnancy I tested negative twice after getting symptoms.

Dumplings23 · 07/06/2024 07:48

Bloods came back normal which is a relief but when I asked if that meant I definitely wasn’t pregnant, the receptionist asked ‘did you ask for that?’. The whole point of the blood test! I asked if she could tell and she just said it was normal.

would a blood test show higher HCG levels anyway, or do they need to do a specific test?

if it’s not pregnancy.. I wonder what it could be. Didn’t get more than an hour sleep last night as stomach was so painful

Do you think there could be anything in your DHs theory about anxiety re return to work? It's a big transition and emotional with little one probably starting nursery etc? Our bodies can do funny things. Regardless, bad abdomen pain that is preventing sleep warrants a GP appointment. I'm sure they will go through history there and appropriately rule out pregnancy if the last blood test wasn't covering that for some reason. They will also be able to run other checks etc. Good luck. X
