How long would you wait for movements

I went into the hospital today for them to check baby as I hadn't really felt any strong kicks/movements like usual since this morning. She checked babies heartbeat (said it sounds absolutely fine) checked my blood pressure and temperature (also fine) and said baby seems happy enough in there. She said any more concerns and I can call them again so felt reassured, however that was a couple of hours ago and I've had some dinner and sat down and still not felt any movements. How long should I wait until I call them again? There has been days where baby has been quieter then others but of course my mind is going into overdrive 😣

Did they not attach you to the monitor for a while to monitor movements? How far along are you? To be honest I always go on the side of caution and say phone again

Whenever this happened to me I had a sweet fizzy drink and lay on my side. I would usually find the baby would become active after this. Good luck I hope all is well.

Apparently they don't put you on the monitor if your under 28 weeks, I'm 27 weeks this Thursday 😣

Cold fizzy full sugar drink, lie on your side and if you don’t feel anything in half an hour go in again. Don’t ever worry about going in. I went about a dozen times (anterior placenta and history of missed miscarriage) and they were always lovely.

I have tried that, I had a fizzy drink, laid on each side and had an ice lolly (all of which would usually get some strong kicks) but apart from the odd very light flutter, nothing. It also says online to not do anything to try and get them to move as they may only be reacting to what your doing rather then it being their natural movement 🤦🏻

Oh yes I do recall that the monitor is not always reliable at 27 weeks. I would still go back in and see if you can convince them to put you on a monitor

I'm 37 weeks and I can have very quiet days and other days baby goes nuts it's a mixed bag I've been very anxious about it throughout but baby is always fine when checked . I can't have the fizzy drink as I have gestational diabetes but a cup of tea usually gets a response and also laying back with some pillows or cushions behind me.

Springadorable · 04/06/2024 20:58

I'd go back. Your only way of knowing if something is wrong is movements.

DoreenonTill8 · 04/06/2024 21:00

Please go back op, hope you are there now and all is well.

VioletMoonGirl · 04/06/2024 21:05

Please go back.
This happened to me and I felt daft going in, especially when as soon as they hooked me up DS started cartwheeling all over the place. But the nurses told me they’d rather see this happen a hundred times than someone who should have come earlier but didn’t.
Please go.

Same. Ended up going six times, each time sent home fine. Ended up being induced for reduced growth (only found due to a presentation scan to see if she was still breech) at which point they noted that my placenta was small.

Hi all just wanted to update to say that baby was pretty active throughout the night so I feel a bit better now but I'm going to keep a VERY close eye on his movements today and I'll call them straight away if I have any more concerns. These babies eh? 😂🤦🏻

Pesky aren't they! Glad they decided to keep you up all night 😂 the midwives doing my assessment for reduced movements told me that babies have an approximately 45 min sleep cycle in the uterus, so if you haven't felt something for a couple of hours start paying attention and give them a call if nothing is happening.

SantasRubiksCube · 05/06/2024 15:46

I've been keeping more of an eye out today, felt a few little movements this morning then some more definite ones at lunchtime (although not as strong and as much as usual) I feel like I'm on edge all the time wanting him to move alot and it's making me feel so stressed 😥

If baby's movements are not the norm for you and your baby go back in. They would much rather see you and everything be okay then you wait and see and god forbid something go wrong.
Any doubts always get checked out.

DoreenonTill8 · 05/06/2024 15:57

Please go back in, always better to go in be seen and let go home than be so stressed at home.

SantasRubiksCube · 05/06/2024 16:46

I've called them again and she said to go back in for another check, I hate feeling like I'm going up there for nothing but at the same time my head is going into overdrive thinking something really bad is happening 😞

Trust me, he will be worrying you for at least the next thirty years. Get used to it 😂

Glad there's been more movement, but don't feel bad about going back in. They'd much rather you be over cautious than under cautious!

SantasRubiksCube · 05/06/2024 18:27

Went in again, the midwife I saw this time was much more thorough (had a good feel of baby, measured bump, took her time to listen in with the Doppler) she said all seems fine, he was even moving away from the Doppler and she had to chase him abit 😂 she said they don't usually do any extra scans for reassurance because of reduced movements at this stage so it may get rejected but she's going to put a request in for an extra scan just to double check everything. She said it's most likely that baby has just moved into a different position and that's why I can't feel movements as strongly/as much

Glad everything seems fine. When my baby moved into a breech position her movements were harder to feel.

I am currently 28 weeks 5+ pregnant I am panicking as my baby has hardly moved till now should I just keep an eye on it as he usually moves all night long and hes only just started kicking now at 4:59. Should I be concerned?
