Round ligament at 5 weeks?

Hi everyone! I’m just about 5 weeks pregnant and today I had a nap and when i rolled over in bed I had a sharp pain really low and to the right. I’ve googled and all that comes up is round ligament pain but that it normally happens in the second trimester! Obviously I’m worried because it’s one sided it could be ectopic. It isn’t there now but if I move in a certain way it twinges again! Has anyone felt this?

It’s normal :) when I was around 5-6 weeks I had exactly the pains you’re describing and was also terrified of it being ectopic. It was in fact just round ligament pain. If the pain does get so bad though, like severe, go to your local EPU and they’ll scan you x

It sounds normal. The fact that it only occurs when you move makes it much more likely to be ligament/muscle pain rather than an ectopic.

Thank you both so much. My husband said it really does sound like a pulled muscle. I can’t feel it when I’m sat down at all but hurts when I stand so my logical brain sees how it’s probably muscle/ligament! We’ve decided to see how it is in the morning and give maternity a ring if worse!

I had that. Everywhere online was saying it was too early but it’s the same feeling I’ve had throughout my whole pregnancy so it definitely does happen early.

Had it in all three of my pregnancies from 4/5 weeks. Didn’t have it too badly later though!

I recently had this in my right hand side too at 5 weeks. Went for an early reassurance scan to check it wasn't ectopic and it wasn't, and the pain has in fact gone since then! 8 weeks now and all going well so I'd say the same as everyone else, don't worry!

Hi ladies not sure if anyone will reply on this old thread but all day today I'm feeling something like what your describing above.. lower right side a stab/jabbing type pain that lasts just seconds but often throughout the day.
I'm absolutely terrified of ectopic - so far I don't have any other symptoms associated with that and hopefully I won't 😢 I am 4weeks plus 2 days.
My epu won't scan till 8 weeks so I really have no reassurance sadly

I wouldn’t worry! Healthy baby boy in his bed next to me right now and the pains I had around those weeks were worse than any period pains I’d ever get and completely in my right hand side! Apparently it’s normal for your Ovary to collapse after the egg has been released and fertilised and this alongside implantation can lead to one sided pain! (This was the case for me and my right ovary)

definitely go for a reassurance scan still at your earliest opportunity if you still have the pains around 8 weeks and need that peace of mind, but try not to worry! There’s so much going on around those weeks that you will feel all sorts of pains and niggles. I even had brown spotting around week 11, but no problems at all! I wish you all the best for the rest of your pregnancy! Enjoy it all!

I’m so sorry to hear that 🥺 Pregnancy after loss is such an anxiety inducing experience but try not to overthink it all! Enjoy every moment for exactly what it is and the worst thing you can do is google your aches and pains! (From somebody who googled everything in the first trimester and wished they didn’t bother) 😂

Thank you...
Omg I know it literally gives me the worst case scenario everytime! I will live in hope for now 🙏 😊
