I'm 37 weeks today and I feel as if someone is sitting on my chest. I can hardly breathe and it's making me feel panicky which is making it worse.

Is that normal? I don't remember it from last time. Baby is very low.

Are you possibly anaemic? If you don't have enough red blood cells, you need to breathe a lot faster to get the oxygen you need.

I don't think so. I had bloods done last tuesday but I'm not sure if they did an FBC

Hiya Francesca,

I am the same, I am 38 weeks, and since round about 35 weeks I've had moments where I feel like I can't get enough air, and I have to breath really deeply. I think it's where baby is just taking up so much room in there!

I went to the doctors at 37 weeks with the same problem with DC2 - a week later she dropped (even though I thought she was low) and the relief was incredible!!

That said - my doctor was brilliant and I had a very relaxing hour at the hospital on a monitor reading a magazine whilst they checked there was nothing wrong.

My SIL had this late on with her second and she was indeed very anaemic - might be worth getting it checked out just in case?

Hope you feel better soon anyway
