Any successful pregnancy stories after 2 miscarriages?

Hi all, I have had a natural mc in November last year followed by a mmc this year. Currently recovering from a surgical. Does anyone have any success stories with having a successful 3rd pregnancy?

I've had 8 pregnancies. Numbers 1, 4 and 6 were miscarriages. So not the same as you as I had babies that survived in between but I know people who have had several miscarriages in a row and then had 1 or more successful pregnancies. So sorry for your losses.

smalltreethisyear · 30/05/2024 13:46

Yes. I had three miscarriages, my dr then prescribed progesterone suppositories the next two times I was pregnant and I had two health babies. So grateful to my GP. Appreciate this might not help in all cases.

Isthisrealomgwow · 30/05/2024 13:53

Yes, currently 30 weeks after a loss at 18 weeks, and 13 weeks. It did take 6 months plus to conceive each one.

I was seen at early pregnancy unit, given progesterone pessary and asprin.

cirillaofcintra · 30/05/2024 14:48

Yes, me. Currently 15 weeks (scan next Saturday to check all is OK, but everything looked good at the 12 week). I had two mcs last year. The NHS in my area said they don't do any tests or treatment until 3 mcs, so I had a private consultation and went on progesterone, prednisolone and aspirin from positive test for this pregnancy.

Rainbowflower2024 · 30/05/2024 17:12

@Isthisrealomgwow thats good news! What did you say to the early pregnancy unit for them to give progesterone? I’m so scared trying for the 3rd time

So sorry for your loss ❤️ I'm currently on cd7 of first cycle following MMC and surgical in April, so hoping to start trying again soon. My EPU also said they don't do any preemptive treatment until 3 MCs so I wouldn't be a candidate for progesterone. Reading with interest to see if anyone who has had progesterone and success has any advice xx

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 30/05/2024 17:43

I had five MC in a row, and then two successful pregnancies.

fleur89 · 30/05/2024 18:22

I'm currently 26 weeks after 2 MMCs last year. Conceived first cycle trying as with both miscarriages and with my daughter who was born in 2022. Was on a cocktail on drugs in the first trimester as diagnosed with high nk cells following extensive private testing (doctor thinks Covid triggered this as I didn't have this with my daughter and only caught covid for the first time after she was born. Off all the drugs now apart from 150mg baby aspirin x

I was on progesterone until 16 weeks after 2 MMCs - prescribed privately though. Frustrating as in other countries it's available over the counter

fleur89 · 30/05/2024 18:28

Was also on prednisone and intralipids to suppress my overactive immune system aka high nk cells (private doctor believes this was causing my MMCs) x

Everleigh13 · 30/05/2024 18:35

I had 3 miscarriages followed by a successful pregnancy, then another miscarriage followed by a successful pregnancy. I changed nothing for the successful pregnancies.

I’n sorry you’re going through this OP. It is extremely hard. The hardest mc for me was the missed mc because finding out at the 12 week scan that the pregnancy hadn’t developed properly was so upsetting. Look after yourself and try to take it one step at a time. Best wishes.

Isthisrealomgwow · 30/05/2024 18:46

@Rainbowflower2024 I was offered loads of things by the hospital I had the MMCs in. None of which they upheld. I have an ongoing, unanswered complaint with them. But that's a whole other story.

I contacted my local hospital early pregnancy unit and explained what had been going on. They invited me in for a scan within 48 hours, at 5 weeks. Then again at 6 weeks, and again at 8 weeks.

They offered the progesterone due to the miscarriages, my age and I had evidence of a small bleed or clot too.

Rainbowflower2024 · 30/05/2024 18:50

@Everleigh13 thank you for sharing your positive story! It gives me hope. I read stories of people on progesterone and aspirin which makes me wonder if I should be doing the same. Did you take any of these?

No, I did not take either. After I had tests at the recurrent mc clinic (after mc number 3) they didn’t find anything wrong so just advised me to continue as I was. Obviously I’d done my research and asked about aspirin etc but they said they don’t recommend it unless they find specific issues in your test results.

By the way, my mcs were at 6 weeks, 12 weeks (mmc - anembryonic pregnancy), 9 weeks and 6 weeks.

Hi Op I had 2 miscarriages last year, 1 happened naturally, 1 was a blighted ovum and needed a D&C. I’m currently 33weeks, they found out I was rhesus negative when I had the D&C so had the injection and all bern ok this pregnancy. Good luck!

Hi @fleur89, hope you're ok. I was wondering if you could share the medications you were on and how long. I am on clexane, progesterone and aspirin due to 3 early MCs last year, tests didn't find anything specific. It seems I'm on them preventitavely, but also scared to come off them too early, feel like the hospital may ask to come off soon. I can go private indeed.

fleur89 · 24/08/2024 17:32

Hi @Lemonbalm8 - hope the below helps:

I was on low dose aspirin (75mg I think) from when I saw Dr S (around 2 weeks before ovulation) and continued throughout pregnancy until 36 weeks.

Also on high dose vitamin D throughout from before ovulation and still continuing this today, alongside proceive prenatal & omegas.

In terms of medication, I took 20mg prednisone, omeprazole, and 2 pessaries of progesterone from 2/3dpo (confirmed ovulation bbt spike). Plus intralipids at 7 days before ovulation, upon testing positive, and then at weeks 8, 12, 16 and 20. Continues 20mg prednisone until 12 weeks before gently weaning off by 5mg every 5 days. So completely off by 15 weeks. Stopped taking omeprazole when I stopped taking prednisone. Weaned off progesterone from 16 weeks. Was told I could do a hard stop but didn't feel comfortable so dropped from 2 pessaries to 1 Pessary for a week, and then half a Pessary the following week.

Currently 38 weeks, hoping I can hold off labour until 39+1 for a September birth but I'm cutting it fine this being my second!

Thank you for sharing. I think we were on multiple threads last year as we got pregnant. Hopefully this time works out for me.
Hope you have a safe birth and all goes well with you and your baby. Really happy for you 🍀

I had a healthy baby, naturally conceived, after 4 early losses in a row. I had already had healthy babies when i was under 35 yrs, then the 4 losses were all around 37 to 38 ish yrs old.

Me and dh had some hosp tests after the 3rd mc but all was normal and it was just put down to my age. One more early loss, then we left it about a year and i fell pg just 3 weeks before my 40th birthday.

All was fine throughout but i was a nervous wreck! Never give up hope!

Nat6999 · 11/09/2024 04:46

Yes I had 2 miscarriages before I had ds, lost both before 5 weeks, didn't think it would ever happen & then got pregnant with ds.

Rainbowflower2024 · 14/11/2024 13:55

@fleur89 awwww congratulations! That’s so good to hear! Sorry I’ve just seen this post. I’m also 5weeks today so I’m praying for a healthy pregnancy this time round.
