Braxton Hicks

Hi all,

I'm sure this question has been asked 1000s of times before, but is there any case when braxton hicks should be checked out?

They started this morning around 6:30 every 15mins for 30-60seconds, and this evening they're still every 40 minutes or so. A couple have been painful and like very mild contractions, but most are just tightenings and not painful.

In the middle of the night i could feel baby was incredibly low, felt like they were about to fall out, but all seems to be back to normal now. They're very active and seem to be moving in response to the tightenings. I'm 36+2. Dd1 was born at 41+3.

I've spoken to PAU and they've said no need to do anything unless they're every 10-15 minutes and over a minute each. I had just expected them to be less regular now that it's been going on for over 12 hours.

Hi, I'm 36+3 and I've been having constant strong braxton Hicks for weeks. I've not been timing them tho and mine seem to be whenever I'm "overdoing it" which is all the time because I have a 2.5 yo and a 15 month old 😅 sorry if this isn't helpful but I'm curious to see what other people say

Thanks, that is helpful. Having a toddler around certainly doesn't help does it!

Thankfully I've had a fairly easy day today as DD is in nursery and I've been working at home. I even managed a nap and finished early! Thought that would have helped them ease, but no such luck. Hopefully they ease overnight, although I don't think they woke me up last night, it may have just been a coincidence as they weren't that painful.

With my first pregnancy I do remember a lot of braxton hicks, but nothing like this. They do say every pregnancy is different though!

I had what I thought were Brixton hicks and DC was delivered 90 minutes later. Apparently Brixton hicks should not be painful and as you’ve said some of your contractions are painful, it could be more than BH.
