Rash on boob, 16 weeks pregnant - eczema, fungal, or stretch marks?

Hi all,

sorry for the image but thought it’d be clearer than trying to describe it. About a week ago at 15 weeks pregnant, after wearing an underwired bra all day (I’ve been wearing crop tops or sports bras mostly), I noticed an itchy rash on the outside of my right boob. It was only noticeably itchy when I took my bra off, looked quite red in and after the shower, and then it went down the next day and I forgot all about it.

I noticed yesterday that it’s come back at 16 weeks, again only noticeable once I take my bra off, except this time it was a stretchy sports bra, but due to travelling I’d had it on for about 18 hours non-stop before I arrived at our holiday destination and was able to have a shower.

Do you think it’s fungal, eczema, or possibly stretch mark rash? could it also be related to heat? It’s warmer here now than in the UK, so I wonder if this second bout has been caused by heat and being restricted in a sports bra? And the first by being restricted in an underwired bra?

My other (left) boob has also itched on both occasions but doesn’t have the same severity of rash, or it disappears very quickly. My right boob (with the rash) has always been very slightly bigger, and it seems to be growing a bit ahead of the other, although they’ve both got considerably bigger during pregnancy (previously I was just an A cup if that). In both breats, I’ve had general tingly and soreness as they’ve grown, and both have slightly flaky nipples now which I gather is a normal pregnancy thing.

Do you think the rash is cause for concern? I don’t want to bother my midwife or GP unnecessarily.

thank you x

Looks like heat rash but you should go see your GP just in case x

I would agree that it looks like a heat or sweat rash, which also happens to me under my boobs/top of ribs area, only if I'm wearing a stretchy sports bra though. I have a few which are very comfy and stretchy but synthetic material and I don't think they let my skin breathe enough. If I change to wearing just cotton for a few days, or if it's not as hot and sweaty, it goes away.
