Hi guys, I’m at my wits end. I also want to add I’m not asking for medical advice for the below it’s more to vent!!!!
I have a history of pre-eclampsia on my previous pregnancy, developed HELLP and I was very unwell.
I am 37 weeks and I Was referred into maternity assessment on Wednesday for presenting to my antenatal with high BP 144/83 and floaters in my eyes the day previous. I was seen by midwife BP series taken, urine was negative and my bloods were good. Discharged home on Labetelol 200mg and asked to return on Friday for BP checks. I woke up Friday Am with a headache went in for BP check and I had protein in my urine (previously had none). BP still mildly raised 137/92 144/81 and 128/80. Bloods returned normal. The doctor saw me and said she was happy with my BP, my bloods were normal and that my headache is from lack of sleep.
I expressed that this is almost identical to the situation that occurred on my previous pregnancy and that I was concerned. She asked me to return this Monday for more BP checks. I still have my headache, and my BP is still high. I feel like I’m not being listened to and things will go downhill fast again.
just for reference I live in Ireland and there is no other maternity hospital nearby.

I can understand your anxiety. The doctor you saw didn’t believe you met the threshold for immediate admission based on the information available. I’ve certainly had the experience of knowing I was developing an illness before all the clinical signs were obvious but I guess doctors must make their decisions on evidence.

In your position I’d make arrangements in my family life to prepare for an emergency admission and possible c-section. Hope all goes well for you. It’s a worrying time.

couldn’t read and run
I also had pre eclampsia and HELLP with my first so I know how scary and dangerous it is l started to develop some symptoms although not as severe with my second and right at the end of the pregnancy, I was already booked in for c section the next day

please don’t let the hospital fob you pff, go back and just sit and there if you have to until they listen to you…no one knows your body better then you
very best of luck x

I would go back and go to A&E and see another Dr in triage..... After your experince this is awful. You are well within your rights to go and be seen without guilt.
