Pregnancy

Talk about every stage of pregnancy, from early symptoms to preparing for birth.

Please don't roll your eyes at me, and I can't even believe I am daring to start yet another thread about this, but are Braxton Hicks type tightnings early signs of pregnancy?

I am not for one minute saying they are BH's, and to make it clear I don't even know if I am pregnant, but this is the second night of tightnings in my belly, they start low down and then rise up over my bump (see pics on profile), not painful at all.

I am sure they are not BH, but that is the closest thing I can describe them as.

NJ...... you realise that starting this thread will eclipse your NJ is in labour thread by blardy months don't you?

NatalieJane · 04/04/2008 19:39

LOL Mars have you missed the rest of my collection lately? Maybe your old age is catching up?!!

Rolling my eyes, NJ, rolling my eyes....

I don't know to answer your question. Been tooo long.

sorkycake · 04/04/2008 19:44

NJ is your aim to get all the active convo's to be about your bump isn't it

BH arrive some time around 17 weeks for me which would be spot on for you if the Jan pg theory is still on the cards

NatalieJane · 04/04/2008 19:48

Seriously I am even blushing properly, in RL, to start another thread, but a girl needs to know these things y'know

I think the Jan pregnancy is out of the window, I am sure the doc would have felt something with the internal this morning.

I've been the busiest I've ever been NJ. I've had 3 prem births, 1 spot on and another brewing.

So... just condense your multimillion threads into a couple of short sentences so that I can catch up

bethoo · 04/04/2008 20:10

very unlikely you will get BH that early in the pregnancy! most likely ligaments stretching if you are preggers!

NatalieJane · 04/04/2008 21:52

Mars, a few sentances? Not my style! Basically, had MC in January, normal periods since, two weeks ago I get bump (see pics on profile), period is now nearly 4 days late, BFN after BFN on HPT's. No idea if I am pregnant or not, so am trying to piece together the jigsaw. Saw GP today she says my cervix is blue which is normally a sign of pregnancy, but internet says it is either a sign of pregnancy or of an impending period. Had some brown discharge this afternoon, which has now stopped, I think it is just the result of the internal, still no sign of period. And I think that is it, you are up to speed

(Very of you BTW, I would love to have your job!! And in fact one day, I will do! )

Bethoo, this would be my 4th pregnancy, I am aware it isn't BH, this isn't the same as the stretching I have felt before in early pregnancy, it is literally my bump tightning, just like a BH, it is the only way I can describe it.

I didn't get braxton hicks till the second trimester. I think they're very unusual (unheard of even) in early pg.
Why don't you just get a scan?

NatalieJane · 05/04/2008 08:10

Lyra, I can't 'just' get a scan, it really isn't as simple as that.

Again, I am not saying it is BH, that is just how I am describing them, only seem to get them in the evenings, when the bump is at it's biggest.

Lulumama · 05/04/2008 10:46

oh honey

are you ok?

do you feel sad or relieved or a bit of both?

has your belly gone back to normal

NatalieJane · 05/04/2008 11:13

No I am fine thanks, just relieved to know one way or the other, would obviously have been pleased to find out the other, but as it is, I am just, well, relieved!

Belly still here, but I am hoping it will go down with the period, it should do shouldn't it?

OP posts:
Lulumama · 05/04/2008 11:14

i would hope so, if not, back to the docs

NatalieJane · 05/04/2008 11:17

Yes, the GP said it was just a build up of hormones from the MC, and then the late period added to it, so I am hoping it will go.

I am off to the shop for some chocolate, can't do period without a galaxy bar in my hand!
