No sickness - is this normal??

This is my first - I'm currently 9 weeks 3 days, first scan booked. I have minor symptoms, headaches, bloating, fatigue (but not extreme) and I'm much hungrier. But I've had zero sickness and barely any nausea.

Every thread I read I feel like I'm the odd one out, should I be worried I haven't had any??

Got me Feeling quite anxious about my first scan, terrified they're going to tell me something is wrong.

I didn't have any nausea during my pregnancy, and neither did my mother when she was having me. Maybe some of us are just less likely to have it?

Lunamoon23 · 22/05/2024 21:23

So reassuring. I really thought I was the minority so really helpful to hear all you ladies experience too! I guess we are just lucky.

My mum only even threw up once with my sister and that was when she ate a banana, funny enough, she hates bananas. With me, she was sick constantly, and coincidentally I was the fussiest eater as a kid!

Hi @Lunamoon23 , just wondering how you're getting on? I was similar to you having very few symptoms. I'm 10 weeks 1 day now and all seems to be fine but of course I won't know until after 12 weeks scan and maybe early foetal screening...

Hello @Toddlermum2024, so I'm 11 weeks on Saturday, and besides tiredness and tender boobs more so at night, I feel absolutely normal.
I've got my first scan on June 14th I'll be 12 weeks and 6 days then. Praying everything will be okay. I feel like I'm showing quite a bit already though oddly. Which is probably just bloat, or I'm expecting twins hahaha.

Hi @Lunamoon23 , I had my 12 week scan today and all appears to be good... maybe we're just lucky to escape morning sickness! Hope you're keeping well

MaryFuckingFerguson · 13/06/2024 20:21

I had no symptoms whatsoever with either of my pregnancies. I thought I was very lucky.

I've got mine tomorrow afternoon! Cannot wait - and yes, we must just be very lucky. I've still had no food aversions or anything, I only feel a little bit sick if it's been a long while since I've eaten, which I try and keep ontop of.
How did your scan go?? X

I had zero sickness or cravings with either pregnancy. Very lucky!

Teacherprebaby · 13/06/2024 21:33

I have exactly the same symptoms (or lack thereof). Had an early viability scan yesterday as I was worried. Everything is fine 😊 thankfully. I'm 8 weeks and 2 days. The GP said I'm lucky with the lack of sickness.

Heckythump1 · 13/06/2024 21:43

Perfectly normal.... I had sickness every single day for every single meal, except for about 3 weeks in the middle with DD1, I wasn't sick once with DD2!

Topseyt123 · 13/06/2024 22:15

I had no sickness at all with any of my three.

I did, however, get 9 months of horrendous heartburn. In fact, it took several months to settle properly after each pregnancy.

BananaHammock23 · 13/06/2024 22:43

I wouldn't have even known I was pregnant until I was about 20 weeks with DS if I hadn't had IVF. No symptoms whatsoever!

ceruleansky · 14/06/2024 02:16

No sickness here but nausea peaked between week 12 and 14.

Flopsy145 · 14/06/2024 07:59

I had BAD nausea with my first, and 0 with my second. Very normal, try and enjoy it as it's definitely up there with the worst symptoms ☺️

Toddlermum2024 · 14/06/2024 08:06

It's very interesting to hear how may people don't get sickness. I'm the same as you @Heckythump1 , I had terrible nausea with my first and none with this baby. Can I ask you if there was a correlation between gender and nausea? They can't tell a huge amount at 12 week scan @Lunamoon23 but all seemed very good, baby was measuring a few days ahead and was moving its little arms. They can check to make sure no fluid around neck or brain so it's just reassuring to hear all seems good thank god 🙏 best of luck with your scan today 😊

Toddlermum2024 · 14/06/2024 08:09

I meant to say, I've escaped the nausea but I have insomnia for the last month...can't sleep beyond 3 to 4 hrs at night which is very tough too. I didn't get this until 3rd trimester last time so it's weird to have it now. Was there any link between gender and bad nausea with your pregnancies @Flopsy145 . I had a girl first time around and the nausea was terrible

Flopsy145 · 14/06/2024 08:20

@Toddlermum2024 my first was a girl and this pregnancy they have told me boy, so in line with the old wives gender predictions so far🙂 also had two friends with no nausea and both had boys. Then one friend who had nausea for one and none for the other but both girls.

ItsHardknocklife · 15/06/2024 03:21

I have 4 daughters and never had any sickness at all with any of them or any symptoms for that matter and all fine 😁 congratulations and try to enjoy your pregnancy. X

@Lunamoon23 how was your scan?? I hope you saw a little wriggling bean and feel reassured. I'm 7 weeks and have 0 symptoms at all, trying to hold off a few weeks for a scan in case I'm dating behind

I think it’s common not to have nausea or sickness, you won’t a true representation here as people will likely only post if they’re struggling with something!
