I'm on my second pregnancy and I hear people saying you show sooner as your stomach muscles have been weakened by the first, but i can't remember when the books say you start to get a little bump first time round. Any ideas?

I started to show at about 22 weeks.

trying to remember! but I think I noticed sooner 2nd & 3rd time, clothes getting tighter 10-12wks but still not obvious to others until 18wks plus but then bump grew rapidly and enormous. Just comments like 'I thought you put on a bit of weight' once others found out!!

I clearly showing at 12 weeks. To be honest, at 10 there was a definite bump when I was naked. That's earlier than DD1, but I tend to get pretty huge during PG.
I'm trying hard to keep the PG secret, but I don't know how much success I'll have next week.

I was just stating to get a bit worried because I am pregnant with my second baby and at 15 weeks I don't feel as big as I was with my first. I thought I would be bigger with a second. I guess all pregnancies are different, but I need a bit of reassurance. Also, I just don't really feel pregnant anymore?

MrsTittleMouse · 05/04/2008 14:07

woose - It's really common to feel "not pregnant anymore" at the start of the second trimester, just because the hormones are easier to handle, and most people lose the morning sickness etc. That's not a bad thing, honest! You will be carrying this baby differently too. The bump might be as big but not as noticable to you because it's (sorry) lower down.

Thanks MrsTittleMouse That has made me feel a bit better. I think I just ned to get my head round the fact that this pregnancy will be very different from the last. I think because I felt so sick to begin with, now I feel better I just feel a bit scared that there is something wrong.

I guess it depends how strong your tummy is, how long you've had between births and how big you you tend to get. I think 12 weeks is given as a rough estimate but mine have been as follows...

1st - around 22 weeks
2nd - around 10 weeks
3rd - probably 6 weeks (well, it was my 3rd pregnancy within 3 years)
4th - around 22 weeks (after a 3 year gap)

I'm like you woose, 15 weeks tomorrow with 3rd (but 2nd a mc at 11 wks), and I'm starting to think it's all a figment of my imagination - can't feel/see anything other than usual slightly podgy tummy, feel normal, so I understand how you feel something must be wrong - but not everyone shows much, and this is meant to the blooming time, so hopefully it's just good fortune!
