Hi All. 3 weeks ago I was diagnosed with severe poly (also have GD) and it was increasing every 2 weeks. Was at 36cm 3 weeks ago. Last week I had a Fetal meds scan and it was 21cm (normal). I have another scan next week but I’m now panicking I’ve been leaking amniotic fluid for it to have gone down so much in 2 weeks. I have been on metaformin since and on 4 a day. Fetal meds didn’t ask if I’ve been leaking but my midwife put it in my head. I wear a liner every day as I leak a bit of urine (yellow) but now I’m thinking maybe I’m leaking fluid too. I put a pad on but I don’t know if it’s sweat 🤦🏻‍♀️ I have a CTG ok Thursday should I take a pad in and will they test It or do I need to pop down to triage for that? Thanks all

I am not sure - but if you are worried about something like this you should call your midwife. Nothing worse than being worried, and if you are leaking then this would be a serious risk of infection.

Please call the midwife or triage.

It’s so hard because I know my bladder is awful since pregnant and my pad / liner is never soaked or even damp tbh. I’ll give them a call tomorrow once I see how today goes. I wake up sweating in the night so could just be sweat 😩Thank you though I’ll definitely call triage tomorrow (my midwife is useless and doesn’t reply)

Call triage all they do is take a swab less uncomfortable than a smear test takes 5-10 minutes to find out . I did the same thing it wasn't amniotic fluid I felt silly but at least I could relax as I had driven myself up the walls with worry by the time I actually went and got checked.

What does the pad smell like? Amniotic fluid has a sweet distinctive smell.

I'd recommend going to triage to check but by smelling it's an easy first indication.

It’s so weird it’s not constant or consistent like I’ve got a dry pad today. When I smelt it before it was wee 🫣 But as my fluid has gone down which hopefully is the metaformin, the midwife has now put it in my head it’s fluid. I’m going to call triage later I’ll see how it pans out today. I’ll feel embarrassed if it’s just wee and sweat 🤣 which hopefully it is. The glamour of pregnancy

Hi All. So I phoned triage. I’ve been leaking either urine or fluid for months now. And due to my severe Poly a few weeks ago and my fluid level rising for 6 weeks I don’t think I was leaking it. Just spoke to triage they said it would be constant consistent. My pad has been dry all day until I started walking home from work then felt a trickle into my liner. They’ve told me to monitor it and if it gets worse or more to go in. Thé bit on my liner looks pale yellow and sticky and doesn’t smell like wee so im really unsure. She was kind of fobbing me off on the phone saying I’ll know if my waters have gone or know my own body. But I don’t, this is my first pregnancy. I mean I know my waters haven’t gone but I don’t know about leaking fluid etc 😩 Think I’ll see how the next few hours go then call back if pad is damp

If it’s sticky then it’s discharge. Your waters aren’t sticky. My hind waters went with my first and there wasn’t a big gush, there was consistent little trickles throughout the day.

That's stressful OP, I remember wondering the same thing and I went to get checked once last time but had just wee'd myself a little it turned out.

When my waters did go, it was an initial gush of pinky clear fluid and it happened as I was washing my hands after peeing so I knew that time it wasn't wee again!

It was enough to soak my underwear and wet the bathroom floor a bit. After that I slow leaked through the rest of the day until I was induced due to the infection risk. They had to break the rest of my waters during the induction, I hadn't realised there was more than one to go!

I'm 39 weeks right now, also awaiting my ELCS on Wed next week and hoping nothing kicks off before then!! Solidarity!!

I didn’t wear a pad last night and my knickers are dry and have been for over 12 hours so I think I’ve just been peeing myself 🫣🤣

Mentioned this at my CTG this morning so they sent me down for a swab. Turns out I’m just peeing myself. Oops 🫣🤣

Aww it happens! I remember the midwife telling me I needed to do more pelvic exercises when I got it checked 🙈 but like I don't pee myself outside of pregnancy?! so 🤷 At least that's a bit of reassurance for you now though!

Exactly that and I hope I don’t pee myself after this lol but I am going to look at pelvic floor exercises now. Yeah I feel relieved, god knows what it looks like down there, I can’t see when I’m shaving but she didn’t laugh so that’s a plus 🤣
