Pose the question. The worst they can say is no. I was in the same position, albeit a few years ago. I only got an early scan after my third miscarriage. They also did an investigation after the third loss but prior to my next pregnancy. I hope things work out for you though, and you don't get to that point.

Shiresunshine · 20/05/2024 15:53

Do you know the date your last period started?

if it’s going to cause you anxiety then I’d say go for it. Private scans aren’t that expensive and it will hopefully elevate any worries you have till your nhs one at 12 (ish) weeks

Hollytrees1 · 20/05/2024 15:55

I'm guessing 1st April as I am not too sure as wasn't planning to try again due to the upset after my 2 previous miscarriages

I had my booking appt at 5 weeks. I had a mc in January and my midwife referred me for an early scan, she said it can help for peace of mind. I didn't even have to ask. Maybe I'm just lucky.
I'm going tomorrow and will be 7w4d. So anxious!! But also grateful to know what's what..

If you have a positive pregnancy test then it's worth trying. They tried to book me in for my booking appointment for 10-11 weeks but I pushed for earlier due to previous complications and got it for week 8. Good luck!

I wouldn't. They seem very unreliable and could have you worrying for nothing.

How did it go

It went lovely thank you for asking!
Saw a heartbeat flickering away. She measured me at 7w1d but I should be 7w4d so will see if we catch up at 12weeks.
I needed two wee's though as the first my bladder was still full 😳 and she was suspicious she could see two babies but there's definitely just one!

No it was an internal one.. she just said it's best that early on as you're more likely to get a clearer image.
How are you getting on? We must be roughly the same weeks

Yes definitely do u have to drink lots of water for an internal one. I have booked a scan for Monday and I am guessing I will be 8 weeks on the Monday.

@Hollytrees1 no, empty for that. I was unsure what they'd do so I drank. Then had a wee before the internal but needed another as I'd drank so much water!!
Is yours private or NHS?

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 21/05/2024 19:30

I paid for private early scans with my last two pregnancies as I needed the reassurance. It definitely helped but the anxiety crept back not long after.

Lol yeah I would do the same. It is private. I had a blighted ovum last year so hopefully it's all ok. I no that it may not give me all the answers until 12 weeks but I carried around a empty sac for 11 weeks last year and just feel like least there be some hope.

Hi hun,

Like you, I had 2 miscarriages within a year. I am now 16 weeks pregnant and with this pregnancy I was offered scans at EPU at 6 weeks, 8 weeks and 10 weeks. It was so reassuring. Your GP should be able to arrange this for you 🤞.

I hope everything goes well for you. I know very well how worrying it is x

Hi I did think this, but they just say they only offer them if I was bleeding or anything, so I booked it privately as didn't no what to do. Thanks so much for your message it is really reassuring x

It makes so much sense that you want that reassurance. Definitely keep in touch and let me know how Monday goes!!

Yes qas a internal which I was nervous for but was nothing worry about. I feel relieved as it was really quiet and then she said let's see the heartbeat and I just think I was thinking the worse. How are you doing

OP posts:
Harveybelle · 27/05/2024 22:23

Ah it's lovely isn't it. I'm doing good thank you. Had a bit of morning sickness at night and boobs are super sore.. also had a bit of spotting after sex yesterday but I think it may have been cervix irritation as it went off after about half hour and been okay today. After the internal scan as well im sure that's what happened.
Just now waiting for my 12 week and feeling anxious most days all is still well!
