Low HCG 4+2 - can anybody give me hope?

Hello all,

I feel a bit silly to be turning to this platform but I am full of panic after a night at hospital. I found out a few days ago that I am pregnant with a much wanted baby, and date 4 weeks 2 days today. I have had an ectopic pregnancy in 2017 and a miscarriage, so I am naturally very scared to keep this little one safe. After some niggly pains in my abdomen and back yesterday I was sent to a&e to get checked over. Unfortunately they think too early to scan and my HCG levels are back showing 63ml. Even though the charts say this is within normal range, I can’t help but panic and wish they were higher. Has anybody else had such low HCG this early on and gone on to have a successful pregnancy? They’ve booked me in for a blood test in 48 hours to check it’s rising as it should. No bleeding but am having quite strong cramps but not sure what is normal and what isn’t so everything is scaring me and making me think I won’t carry to term! Clear but says pregnant 1-2 weeks.

any other experiences/reassurance etc would be much appreciated from a very scared pregnant lady who gets married in 7 weeks!

I had very low and slow rising hcg. I had some brown spotting and was panicked this meant the worst. Sadly epu couldn’t do anything until I hit 6 weeks as if they scanned then it was unlikely they would see anything and j know that would worry me more.

My baby was all okay. Hes now a few months old
and very healthy!

I know it’s a worrying time so all I can suggest is to keep yourself busy. I know it’s hard but try focus on other things as you’ll drive yourself sick with worry if you don’t.

With both my pregnancies I had very painful period like cramps but was told by Epu that this was normal and only to worry if it became intense or if also had bleeding.

I have my 🤞 for you!
Best Of luck with the wedding too!

With my ds at 4+3 my hcg was just 19 I was told likely a failed pregnancy- he is fine !

And my dates were exact as I’d had IVF

Thank you so much! So glad to hear you had a successful pregnancy and now a beautiful baby. Praying all is well just can’t help but worry! X

This is reassuring to hear! Thanks so much. I’m seeing so many other posts where they’re over 100 and worrying it’s low so I really panicked seeing that number! X

Just as an update. Just over 48 hours later it’s only gone up by 89% to 119. She said they’re still happy it’s rising, and could just be because it is so early, but I am so scared. Now also having some heavier spotting/light bleeding especially when going for a poo (sorry, tmi), but fine when not pooping. Really don’t know what to think/feel very emotional.

Hey love, just wanted to ask how you’re getting on? Am in a similar situation, not had any bloods but preg tests haven’t really progressed much or got as dark as I’d like. Got a 2-3 on clear blue at just under 5 weeks. How are you doing? Hoping the spotting has cleared up and you’re feeling better x

Hello,

thanks so much for your follow up. They did start to rise and I felt more ‘pregnant’ so was positive. Unfortunately it’s ended sadly for me and currently in hospital with an ectopic pregnancy which they’re deciding how to manage currently. We’re heartbroken but positive about trying again later in the year. I really hope you’re all fine and it goes well for you! Sending lots of baby dust xx
