Hello!

First pregnancy here, currently 9 weeks (today) and I'm petite, size 6-8. However, these last few weeks. I quite literally cannot stop eating!! And it's most junk type food I'm craving constantly.. I'm quiet body conscious and while I fully accept my body is going to change, quiet drastically being pregnant, I didn't expect to be consuming so much food so frequently.. is this normal? Does this continue throughout the whole pregnancy? Already feeling like a whale and I'm not even showing yet! All new to me and still very hush hush to hard to get experiences from others.

Completely normal. It does stop. My stomach would rumble hourly! And eating was the only thing that stopped the nausea.

I ate a lot in the first three months to keep the morning sickness feeling away. Orange juice/ vitamin C helped. Try eating oranges segment by segment slowly.

@ZippyZappyZoo @menopausalmare sadly I can't even blame it on sickness, as I've thankfully had non this far! I do feel abit nauseated if I'm hungry, but it's more like I'm just never full.. just want to constantly eat.

I ate so much during the first trimester. Buckets and buckets of food, and it just wouldn't touch the sides. I also had constant nausea so it was good times all round!

I figure since you're laying down the foundations of the baby in the first 12 weeks, your body needs the calories.

I couldn’t stop eating. Chocolate and cake were the only things I wouldn’t throw up and I wanted it ALL the time. I’ve put on 3.5 stone since being pregnant and I feel disgusting now.

Tbh for me I've been like that all through all my pregnancies sadly. I've never put on 'too much' weight though. I always get HG for the first half or so and then after that I try to eat as sensibly as possible. I eat if I'm hungry but I do sometimes have to think am I REALLY hungry or do I just feel like eating?! And if it's the latter try to occupy myself instead!

Also I try to eat a lot of snacks like fruit, celery sticks etc things that are low in calories. I particularly limit sugary food but more due to trying to avoid gestational diabetes.

Have you had a blood test could you have gestational diabetes?

During the first trimester your body needs extra fuel to create lungs, kidneys, eyes, arms and legs etc from scratch. It's normal to be eating more but maybe try to reduce the junk food and swap it out for healthier options.
