Panicking a little here.

My baby has been head down the whole time, and suddenly this morning (after sleeping rough with a cold and finding myself on my back) I find her hiccups are coming from near my ribs. There is a large hard lump just under my rib cage. She is not kicking where she normally kicks.

I left a message with the community midwives, and hope they call back today.

I have a lot of fluid (AFI = 17), but not enough for concern, I hope this means she will just turn around again by the end of today.

Has anyone else experienced such a late change in position?

Mine was similar. Head down til 37ish weeks, then flip flopped back and forth between breech and head down for about 10 days before being head down at induction.

Thanks for the reply! Sounds stressful, but good to know that it is possible for the baby to turn back on its own. I just wasn’t expecting this to happen at such a late stage.

I really hope this is temporary, as I am hoping to avoid a c-section.

Hi @Silverfoxlady how are you getting on? I have just had it confirmed at 37+1 that baby is breech after midwives saying she has been head down. Now having to decide next steps x

Hey
My DD was breach. I found out when I went into labour (which looking back meant I did not stress about it). I did a natural birth with gas and air as I had a fantastic midwife. I would say it was less painful (even though it took longer) than the birth of my DS. He came out in under 2hrs. I remember asking for drugs towards the end and luckily he decided to come out.
Try not to stress about it- Hope it all goes ok

Thank you for the comments everyone,

After a massive stressful morning, I was seen at the hospital and they checked the position for me. In the end it was just a scare, she is head down. Relieved as I am terrified of C-sections.

After That the hiccups are coming from everywhere lately, and the massive bump at the top was her massive bottom!
