hi there,

we are planning on a week's trip to spain early may when i will be 9 weeks pregnant. having mc i am worrying if it is safe to do so? it's a 2 half hour flight each way.

does anyone have any experience of flying during early pregnancy 9 -10 weeks? can the pressure be damaging? i really don't want to do anything to hurt this pregnancy.

with ds we flew at 16 weeks and 28 weeks and was fine, but not sure about 1st trimester risks.

thanks

You'll be fine.

I flew (then skied) at 8 weeks and was fine. 16 weeks now. But was booked and paid for before I new I was pg.

I flew at 8-9 weeks about the same distance and was fine. Having morning sickness nausea made things a bit more difficult but it was okay. My doctor said flying at that time was fine

I flew at about same stage (and earlier very long haul) and was fine. Some places (like zita west ) take a quite strict line on not flying first trimester but this is on general basis of being v.careful - I found out about this after I'd flown

Make sure you drink lots of water - would agree that I don't think it is something to lose sleep over.

I don't think it is unsafe.

My second pregnancy - after a miscarriage - I flew every week for about 12 weeks. I liked it because I was able to conceal my morning sickness from my colleagues

I flew at 8 weeks - to NZ and back - ugh! I now have a bouncing wee 9mo! The only problem was being unable to drink wine to get yourself to sleep!
(And yes - drink lots of water - wear flight socks and get up and walk around a lot)

thanks girls! dh is adamant he wants to cancel as if anything happened we wouldn't forgive ourselves. me on the other hand would love a break but still worried. it's been a tough few months since the mc....

going to speak to our OB and have a scan a few days before and get his advise, that is if we are lucky for this bean to stick till then and beyond... please please please

thanks again! x

I did loads in first trimester.

Caribbean at 4 weeks
Spain at 6 weeks
Chicago at 9 weeks.

Aldo flew to the Maldives at 27 weeks.

had no problems - just made sure I drank a bit more fluid than i normally would. DD is now 7 months old.

I think you should perhaps take advantage of a restful holiday while you can
