Funny you should ask that as I was thinking the same about self-tanning then thought I probably couldn't due to pregnancy. I'm 28 weeks now but presume can't use proper selt tanning lotions, not sure about the moisturiser type though?

hmmm, I think it's got chemicals in it hasn't it? Not sure, butI know I haven't used mine throughout my preg, but not sure of the actual facts / risks.

REIDmylips · 03/04/2008 19:06

i used the loreal spray mist tan (sorry cant remember what its called) the one that you dont need to rub in and sprays like a mist. I dont know the hard facts but i used it through out my pregnancy and everything is/was fine.

What about Immac/Nair etc. My legs are very hairy and have to not wear jeans next week. Thinkinog that might be a bit sore for waxing. Also, have never shaved my legs, and don't want to start now due to fear of hair growing back thicker and also cutting myself.

onefootinthegravy · 03/04/2008 19:08

I did - the doctor said it was ok
But I had just rushed in to the doctors in a mad panic - had been using a sunbed while pregnant quite few times as I didn't have a clue I was pregnant at the time
He said it wasn't something he would recommend but it shouldn't have harmed my baby [phew] Thank goodness - my dd was absolutely fine although it didn't stop me worrying about it!!

lilQuidditchKel · 03/04/2008 19:08

oh go on, stop fretting. i used self tanner lotion (Johnson & Johnson) and the L'Oreal spray occasionally with my 2 and all is fine. BTW one is pale and one has slightly darker skin not that that was any influence! Stress over feeling pastey is surely worse for the baby!

Bumperlicious · 03/04/2008 22:40

Quick hijack, sorry OP, lilkel! how are you, are you reinstating your HP name to hide from us?!

sophiebbb · 03/04/2008 23:09

Am due in 2 weeks and have shaved my legs all week and put on Johnson and Johnson. Well I figure if I am going to look and feel crap during the birth I may as well have brown legs to make me feel a bit better!!!

lou222 · 04/04/2008 12:36

i do spray tans myself, am 16 weeks and just sprayed myself
we are advised not to spray anyone in the first 12 weeks - but i think that is much the same as anything if your client had a miscarriage they could be looking to blame someone!
after 12 weeks fine but there is a risk it could be patchy due to your skin being funny in pregnancy!!

castille · 04/04/2008 12:43

The Green People self tan lotion is really good and free of nasty chemicals. I used it when I was pregnant.

MrsMattie · 04/04/2008 12:54

Didn't during my first pregnancy but fully intend to keep having my St Tropez spray tans this time around! My doc said absolutely fine. I want to look good and feel preened this time around - no pasty skin, lank hair and grotty tracksuits!

7monthsplus · 04/04/2008 14:03

I use dove touch of sunless tanner MW says fine. It is mainly lotion anyway and i feel better for it.. otherwise I look bluey white!! lol

Diege · 04/04/2008 14:30

Self-tan (spray tan or at home) is absolutely fine. It just sits on the surface of the skin (particles of the chemicals are too big to penetrate into the dermis)so totally safe. Also accounts for wht it fades/goes patchy so quickly!
