NT levels - Positive outcome

I just wanted to share our story...

At 13 weeks we went for our dating scan. Perfect little heart beat. Measuring just as she should. The last measurement they needed to take was the NT levels (fluid at the back of the neck). I knew by her face something was wrong. “Your NT levels are measuring higher than they should.” We were sent off into a consultancy room where we were met by several nurses who explained there is a risk of Down Syndrome, Edwards, Patau, other chromosome abnormalities or potentially a problem with her heart. We were referred to John Radcliffe Hospital where we were told our baby had a 1 in 18 chance of Downs Syndrome.

Over the next 7 weeks, I had an amniocentesis, several scans, blood tests. Week by week we would thankfully get the results we wanted, slowly ticking off possible issues…

✅ No Down Syndrome, Patau or Edwards
✅ No other chromosome abnormalities
✅ Perfect growth
✅ Healthy heart

After weeks of stress and tears, last week we finally got sign off from John Radcliffe Hospital. We can't wait to meet our little baby girl in September.

Great news congratulations. What was her NT measurement if you don't mind me asking

primrose1234 · 13/05/2024 21:13

Sorry. I should have put that in the post. It was 3.8mm, so slightly high.

Thank you for sharing this, it's heartwarming and a relief to know that 17 out of 19 will be fine.

I've just come back from my first scan today with very similar results - 13 weeks, everything looking good except for the NT measurement of 3.9mm so we've been given the same probability, had the blood tests done now and other screenings booked throughout the month.
We're trying to remain cautiously positive.

@Lapinlupin Fingers crossed all is fine for you!! There's loads of positive outcomes on here. I know exactly how scary it feels right now though. I cried most days and it felt like the longest wait between appointments. As the NT levels are only slightly over the 'safe' level, there is a much higher chance that things will be ok. Please keep us posted xx

The Harmony test results came back with a 1 in 10,000 chance of chromosomal abnormalities and a 16 week scan showed that all is well with baby.
Such a relief!
Wishing anyone else going through this the same results x
