Hiya, I'm a first timer as well (19 weeks) and a couple of weeks ago I could do nothing but fret as I couldn't feel any movement inside or out. My midwife was the only person who managed to get through to me that everyone is different and people feel it at different times.

So I guess I would just say don't worry about it - it will happen when it happens, and it's impossible to measure yourself against other pregnant ladies. I didn't have any morning sickness either and spent ages thinking I was somehow doing something wrong because I wasn't feeling like crap!

The fact that you can feel it moving around inside is a good sign

Oh it might not be for a cople more weeks yet - I'm a third timer and my placenta is on the front this time - meaning if yours is, you might not feel as much the whole way through.

Don't worry, its normal and fine. It won't be long.

with my first born I felt movement inside but there were no feet or elbows that I could feel outside. With dd it was totally different-I could just about hold her hand!
so don't panic-they all feel very different

Thank u scorpio1, i was told i having a girl if that makes any difference

hiya both of you.

You are feeling movements inside (weird, isn't it ) but it will be a long while before those movements are strong enough to feel from the outside.

The baby is still so small that a kick or a punch really wouldn't be able to get through all of you to your hand.

I think I was about 30 -odd weeks before dp could feel kicks with his hand.

As long as you can feel it moving inside, that is the main thing.

You don't necessarily feel your stomach move for while - depends on how well padded you are too! The baby at 21 weeks is still quite small so needs to grow a bit before you can share the kicks with somebody else.

I would say, if I remember correctly, about 24 or 25 weeks to you get more than a flutter.

Have you had your scan yet? If that was OK then you really have nothing to worry about.

Good luck with your baby though.

ah, scorpio - you're still here then? I was hoping that you were in the hospital giving birth today.

Oh well.... crumpets and scones on Angua's thread when you're ready...

NikNakF · 03/04/2008 13:36

I first felt the little man moving at 16/17 weeks, like a goldfish wiggling in the base of my abdomen. I was desperate to feel him kick and he didn't until one day in week 23. Suddenly he realised how and hasn't stopped - I know how you feel but it will happen, don't worry, and probably at the most surprising time!

1timemum · 03/04/2008 13:37

my 20 week scan was all perfect and could see her moving around alot.
Thank u so much for all your answers had made me feel alot better xxx

1 time mum - Glad you are feeling reassured; sex of baby makes no difference to movements IME - i am having a girl after 2 boys and they are all the same in there!
