Five weeks six days, no heartbeat?

Hi!
I had an early scan today. They dated me at 5 weeks and 6 days. Everything looks on track implantation-wise etc - but they couldn't see a heartbeat.
Should I be worried?
Did anyone have a scan this early with no heartbeat seen?
Did your pregnancy continue successfully?
At how many weeks did you see a heartbeat, if so? Thanks!

They said to book another scan for a week's time.

It's still really early - it's not unusual to not see a heartbeat at that stage. It's why I hold off until 7 weeks as it's more likely to be accurate then. Hopefully your scan in a week will put your mind at ease.

As above, it's really early for a heartbeat.
DS1 didn't have a hb at 6+2 (early scan for medical reasons). He sits his GCSE's next summer.
DS2 had a hb at 6+0.
Both arrived on their due dates.
It really is luck of the draw.
Hopefully you get a positive result next week.

It's too early for a heartbeat they don't recommend a scan until at least 7 weeks for exactly that reason x

I had a scan at 6+1 and there was a heartbeat, but it is really borderline whether it can be detected at that stage.

When ive been to EPAU previously theyve said before when ive been just over 6 weeks so 6+1 they want to wait a week to see whether theres a heartbeat because usually around the 7 week mark is when its seen properly.
Sometimes you do see it earlier but like pp said its borderline.

Dont worry too much, dont add much stress, just go back next week and you'll probably see babys heartbeat. Good luck OP x

I had a hb seen at 7+3,
If I were booking a reassurance scan then I wouldn't go before 7 weeks for this reason.

It’s still early. I had a scan for medical reasons at 6 + 1 on Tuesday and there was a heartbeat, but baby was also measuring ahead at 6+3 so my guess is I implanted early. I know its hard but if you can, try not to worry too much. It won’t change a thing or make the time go faster! Plus, a LOT can happen in just a couple of days at that gestation. Good luck for next week!

I’m surprised you had a scan that early unless you’ve had cause for concern. Private places certainly shouldn’t offer before 7 weeks. But a heartbeat is usually only seen after 6 weeks. I had a scan at EPU due to bleeding and there was a heartbeat at 6+4

TheTigerWhoCameToEatMyHusband · 09/05/2024 11:42

I didn't have one at 6+1 (scanned for medical reasons). she's now playing on the floor at 5 months old.
