@Emmaev im definitely noticing more of a pattern. Hes most active in the evenings, always has some kicking after I eat and when I'm in the car. Mornings are quiet. However he has had more active days than others like you. Hes quite a thumper and I can feel little limbs when I press down sometimes ๐Ÿคฃ

WinsandSam · 27/05/2024 20:57

@Emmaev I'm definitely noticing more movement when I wake and lie in bed in the morning. Then after dinner in the evening when I'm relaxed. Like you there isn't much in the day unless I'm sitting and focussing.

@ForeverHopeful67 yes you can take loratadine which I'm prescribed for allergies. ๐Ÿคง

mrsbgb · 27/05/2024 21:00

@ForeverHopeful67 my understanding is that antihistamines havenโ€™t really been tested properly but thereโ€™s nothing to suggest they have any side effects, they just canโ€™t say for certain there arenโ€™t any. Iโ€™ve been taking hay fever tablets on days I have to be outside a lot or really suffering!

@Emmaev starting to notice a little bit of a pattern but not hugely consistent. Heโ€™s normally active after Iโ€™ve eaten and before bed, but some days heโ€™s active all day - and then Iโ€™m panicking on the days heโ€™s quieter as I have no idea if that counts as reduced movements. Great for the anxiety!

Emmaev · 27/05/2024 21:08

@SC126 @WinsandSam @mrsbgb

My movements are exactly the same. I sit down and I just think when did I last feel her. Iโ€™m not sure how much I should be feeling at 26 weeks especially with an anterior placenta. It says right on my pack if you feel like movements are reduced to contact triage. But then I feel her poking my belly. Anxiety is through the roof. 2 weeks and counting until our next scan. Canโ€™t come quick enough.

TripleESept24 · 27/05/2024 21:11

Baby girl here is always active as soon as I get into bed and lie flat in the evenings.

Also in the bath in the evenings, and after eating.

Other than that when I'm in the office I feel the odd kick throughout the day, but nothing like in the eves!!

Me and my partner watched a film in bed a few nights ago and he had his hand on my tummy the whole time, he couldn't believe the amount she was absolutely thumping me ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

I just lie and watch my belly and see all sorts of crazy movements now 25 weeks this week ๐Ÿฅฐ

cd24x · 27/05/2024 21:19

@Emmaev most movements for me are after eating or when I really concentrate. I've felt more this last week during the day as we've been on holiday so chilling a bit more than usual. I've been waking up to pee around 3/4am most mornings and usually I get a little kick or roll around that time too.

Not much of an update from me, but I've been catching up on here after a week away. Can't remember who posted recently about flying when pregnant, but I had no issues whatsoever on the way out from Stansted. Coming back from Portugal my boarding pass was apparently "flagged" (assume by lady on check in desk), and was just asked at boarding very politely if I was pregnant and how far along I was. Wasn't asked to produce any documentation, not that I had anything anyway. Although just checked and Jet2 policy states I should have had a Fit to Fly certificate from Dr or Midwife - oops ๐Ÿ™ˆ guess I was lucky! Probably best to check with airline before you go!

Xur · 27/05/2024 21:51

@Emmaev
I have posterior placenta. If my baby has a pattern they are not daily, but rather over a period of days cos heโ€™s very active in the evenings only EVERY OTHER day. Every second evening he will be banging away for hours. Kicks my bladder around 6 PM. I always notice that when I am at the gym after work. Is active all day long. Mornings depending on the mood. He does have preference. If I am in a silent environment he will kick more, when I have more people around me and loud noises, then he kicks less. Sugar and food used to affect him more, now he doesnโ€™t care about food as much as he used to.

HRP1990 · 27/05/2024 22:13

That reminds me @cd24x I think it were me - weโ€™re going away Thursday and I have a 25 week midwife appointment Wednesday so Iโ€™ll ask if I can have a fit to fly. Weโ€™re going to Greece from Gatwick with EasyJet so Iโ€™ll double check, but best to be prepared.

Also, imagine if you were not pregnant lol! I was 22 weeks when we went to Spain recently and no one bat an eyelid, however I was fairly covered up.

Edit.. you can travel up to 35 weeks with EasyJet with no medical certificate.. how mad is that? Thatโ€™s so late lol

cd24x · 28/05/2024 10:46

@HRP1990 I was quite surprised that Jet2 don't state anything about number of weeks you are when flying. It just seems to be a blanket policy for anyone who is pregnant. But if I wasn't visibly pregnant, nobody would have said a thing. The guy at the boarding gate was very polite and apologised initially before asking if I was pregnant (even though it is VERY obvious!) - I'd imagine they'd experienced some backlash before, poor lad! Enjoy your holiday, I'm very jealous now that I'm back to work today๐Ÿ˜ซ

Xur · 28/05/2024 12:33

I had a midwife appointment today morning and I asked her to do for me a fit to fly note. I am flying next week on Thursday, even though I will be just 26 weeks something then, I figured I rather have something than no paper with me at all and she did a handwritten one for me and put my GPโ€™s stamp on it ๐Ÿคฃ I hope it will suffice if I get asked. If not RIP honeymoon

DontKnow1988 · 28/05/2024 13:14

@cd24x British Airways don't have a very clear policy on when you need the fit to fly letter either. They say you can't fly after 36 weeks but there is nothing about when the letter would be needed. I flew BA at 24 weeks and got a letter to be safe (my bump is massive)

Yes I thought it was unclear too, I travelled BA at 18 weeks and got a note just to be on the safe side, because it doesn't specify. I was not visibly pregnant but I had my 'baby on board' badge on. Nobody said anything other than a member of staff offering to lift my suitcase overhead.

MudandMoet · 28/05/2024 14:12

@Xur ahhh exciting!!! When do you get married or was it recently? โค๏ธ

Xur · 28/05/2024 14:28

@MudandMoet next Wednesday! 5th of June and flying on the morning of the 6th.

Lillers · 28/05/2024 14:39

Waah feeling rough today, not had a day like it for a while. Was really sick earlier - not unusual, itโ€™s hitting me about once a week (and last time was exactly a week ago) but I just feel rubbish with it, whereas more recently even if Iโ€™m sick I tend to feel ok for the rest of the day.

Probably because me and DH ate absolute crap all bank holiday weekend and now my body is paying me back for it, so Iโ€™ve just put a very healthy vegetable-heavy dinner in the slow cooker and am hoping by some miracle it fixes me!

Honeyandsunshine1 · 28/05/2024 15:15

Guys, I know most of you are keeping your names a surprise for post-birth, but those who are being open and honest with family members on what theyโ€™re calling baby, can you please reassure me that this is also fine?? Weโ€™ve always kept babyโ€™s name a surprise/secret with all my pregnancyโ€™s. I hated the opinions of others and it just felt nice to have something between us

well, I have a toddler and a preschooler now. And nothing gets past them. So of course theyโ€™ve started telling people the name ๐Ÿ˜‚ my parents now know after looking after them the other night. And theyโ€™re off to my in-laws this week so no doubt itโ€™ll get revealed there too ๐Ÿคฃ my in-laws are the ones who I have least interest in their strong opinions

SC126 · 28/05/2024 15:32

@Honeyandsunshine1 of course this is fine. Just ignore any opinions if you do happen to get any. Tbh my parents are good with names and open to quite unusual options too but so far my son hasn't dropped it on them ๐Ÿคฃ I have told close friends my top choices though and so far I've got good responses back.

HRP1990 · 28/05/2024 15:45

@Honeyandsunshine1 weโ€™ve told close friends/family that have asked. We donโ€™t want any suggestions as weโ€™re all set, so it stops the โ€œoh I donโ€™t like thatโ€ because.. tough lol.

On a side note.. I had a tiny fall this morning at a friends house, only down a carpeted flight of stairs. 3/4 stairs max. I slipped and fell on my back/side. I feel okay and have felt baby move since. No bleeding or cramps. Do you think I should speak to 111/the hospital? I have a midwife appointment tomorrow anyway and Iโ€™m sure sheโ€™ll listen to the heartbeat. Just thought Iโ€™d ask you lot what youโ€™d do!?

Honeyandsunshine1 · 28/05/2024 16:17

@SC126 @HRP1990 Thanks guys. I feel like itโ€™s my hormones doing me dirty ๐Ÿ˜… I liked the control of nobody knowing and now itโ€™s out of my hands. But youโ€™re right, itโ€™s not that deep. With my (current) youngest we used to throw out a decoy name and everyone left us alone, but not possible this time with two very alert children ๐Ÿคฃ when I try throw out a decoy, they just say โ€œno, her name is XXXโ€ haha

I would definitely ring just to be on the safe side @HRP1990 Best case they say โ€œnothing to worry aboutโ€ worst case they say โ€œweโ€™re worried, come inโ€ and then youโ€™d be grateful you did speak to them. X

Babyplease23 · 28/05/2024 17:00

@Honeyandsunshine1 We have shared the name with my mum and Nan who both love it. We haven't told my dad but his wife suggested some names the other day and ours popped up as a suggestion... My dad said "I don't like that name" (not knowing it's the one we picked) ๐Ÿคฃ I've decided just to tell people now and ignore any negative opinions. We're pretty set on our name now and I don't think anything will change that!

rupertbear91 · 28/05/2024 17:15

@HRP1990 I would ring and let mat triage know just incase

Lillers · 28/05/2024 17:17

@Honeyandsunshine1 Iโ€™m the idiot that told quite a few people my dream girl name before we even got pregnant - itโ€™s the one weโ€™re going with and I really wanted to keep it quiet, but some of the people I told have outright asked if thatโ€™s her name! With my family Iโ€™ve confirmed it, nobody on DHโ€™s side knows, and with friends Iโ€™ve said itโ€™s on the shortlist but we wonโ€™t confirm until weโ€™ve met her. We are keeping the middle name a complete secret though - itโ€™s my mumโ€™s name and she will literally be floored when she finds out ๐Ÿฅฐ

Xur · 28/05/2024 17:58

@Honeyandsunshine1
when I was younger a spent a great deal of my energy worrying about what other people think or say about me. Reality opinions are like assholes-everyone has one.
Impressive for people to think their opinion should matter in what you name your child.
Iโ€™ve shared our chosen name with a handful of people, really, 3 people know. My mum knows the name but she doesnโ€™t know I stuck with it, I was brainstorming for names when she was here beginning of April. No one has been pushy about finding out the name except for my sister, but I ended up not telling her just to prove a point.
In my circle everyone else apart from my sister has learned to not be pushy or to impose their opinions on my matters because I simply have no monkeys to give.
Monkey free headspace is a good place to be. 10 out of 10, fully recommend. Donโ€™t let others disturb your peace.

@HRP1990 I do not remember where I heard or read this phrase, but apparently the pregnant womb is one of the most well amortised setups found in nature. Apparently the biggest risk is having the placenta detach from such cases, but from what you said all seems well. Itโ€™s not going to kill anyone to give a courtesy call to some specialist to just advise of the situation and seek advice.

HRP1990 · 28/05/2024 18:01

I called as I started to get abit wheezy and short of breath which I thought was either the fall/baby in a different position perhaps. She said as long as I can hold a conversation, I have no pain/bleeding and that the baby is definitely rhesus negative like me. (Otherwise Iโ€™d need an anti D injection.) But the fetal bloods came back to confirm heโ€™s negative too.

So aslong as things donโ€™t get worse, Iโ€™m going to hang on for my midwife appointment tomorrow!

MudandMoet · 28/05/2024 18:12

@Xur Wow big congratulations!! ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿฅฐ

I think the whole name situation is really hard. Understandably, a lot of people won't like or wouldn't use the names we've chosen but then likewise the other way around and it's not just names is it, like I wouldn't drive xxx certain car or live in xxx area or whatever but not everyone bangs on about it but with names people feel like they can have an open opinion. It baffles me a bit.

It was always ๐Ÿ’ฏ we were using DH Nan's name as a middle (was a contender for first at one point) Alice, it's quite sweet and goes with a lot of names, I do feel a teeny bit bad for my Nan but her name is Sheila and it's just a big no for me plus the sentiment isn't quite the same on my side.

I think ultimately what I'm saying is... naming babies is just damn tricky!
