Very high Papp-a - any experiences?

Hi all

had combined screening results today. My Papp-a came back as 5.7!!! I was relieved at first as it was low with my first and she was premature… but then I googled and it’s now so high! There’s hardly any information about it online only a few posts on mumsnet about high Papp-a and even then their levels were around 2 something so mine is insanely high compared to that!

any experiences?

My hog also came back as 40.9 which I’m confused about as everyone else seems to have results less than 10?

I would ring your hospital and ask them to explain! I totally misunderstood my numbers and they weren’t actually high at all.

Hi!

sorry ive jumped onto your thread, i hope youve since had some reassurance? Ive just been told that my PAPP-A levels are high, i remember her saying they were 9? She mentioned it being a link to spina bifida and now im so worried and cannot find any info online, they have managed to book me in for a scan tomorrow but im going out of my mind, was wondering how you got on?

So in the end the resolt was more then ok, everything perfect. They looked high, but after the calculation, they were actualy pretty good.

Hi, I know this is quite an old thread but looking for some reassurance on high papp-a. I've just has my results back and papp-a has returned at 3.7mom which seems very high if average is considered to be 1. It hasn't been flagged on my results letter as an issue, but looking at the reference ranges >2.5 is considered high. There's loads of information about low papp-a but not much at all about it being high. I have read that high levels are also associated with adverse effects for baby and me though. I will ask my midwife when I see her but that's not for another 2 weeks.

Hey, I’m tagging onto the old thread also.. did you find anything out about high PAPP-A? Mine is elevated as well as high Beta HCG. Cannot find anything out there with this combo. Thanks so much.

Hi @ButterflyBubblegum I asked my midwife who contacted the consultant, they said it wasn't something they were concerned about/didn't change management of pregnancy. It wasn't an overly helpful response at the time, but I'm pleased to say that my pregnancy went very smoothly and I'm sitting here now with my 3 month old fast asleep on me and she is absolutely perfect - so the high result didn't cause any issues! Wishing you a healthy pregnancy too.
