North West London Hospital - maternity

Hi all!

I'm trying to decide which hospital to self refer to - not due until December this year. I am based in Hillingdon, and my closest options are Watford General, Hemel Hempstead, St Albans or Northwick Park. Looking at the CQC maternity assessments, I can't find a rating for Hemel or St Albans. Northwich Park & Watford both have a rating of 'requires improvement' which doesn't inspire confidence! It's all a bit scary that nowhere has a 'good' rating!

If anyone has experience of giving birth recently in hospitals in North / North West London I'd love to hear it, especially Watford. I'd be willing to travel a bit farther if needed - Barnet looks better than most.

Where did you decide in the end? We're at Hillingdon Hospital and noticed you didn't mentioned there even though you're in Hillingdon.

We went with Watford. My partner actually has a son from a previous relationship and they had a poor experience at Hillingdon so he wanted to avoid it. But that was 7 years ago so it may not be that way now.

I’ve been having a good experience at Watford so far, and have also heard good things recently about Northwick Park. Hope that’s helpful!
