I am very confused about how far along my pregnancy is!

I stopped taking birth control at the end of February this year and got my period early (19 day cycle). I got my period on the 14th of March and have not had it since. I tested for a week after my period was due and those were negative. Yesterday I got 2 positive tests and 1 said I was around 2 weeks pregnant.

I am not sure if I can count my pregnancy from the start of my period in March, as I missed my last period not due to pregnancy. Hopefully someone can help!

I came off the pill and my periods were very irregular- with the exception of about 4 months. When I tested positive I couldn’t even tell when my last period was as me and DH had sort of given up trying and I was offered an early dating scan so we had an idea

Register with your local maternity service and tell them when they call you.

When you register, give the date of your last period anyway. All that will happen is you might get seen earlier than necessary, but then you can tell them and they’ll either order an earlier scan and adjust, or just stick with the LMP date until your dating scan and adjust then.

From what I’ve read from others, only get a private scan if you just want to know for you - I believe the NHS don’t accept them as evidence (but I could be wrong).

I missed two periods. They said it was secondary amnorhea, and were going to give me fertility drugs to start them, but the day I was supposed to collect I tested pregnant. I was consultant led, and they dated through the scan, but were very concerned as if you go more than two weeks over, then it can be very risky and my consultant had sadly lost a baby in this manner, as such, they induced on my due date that they had stated from the scan. As there is room for error in the scans.
