6 weeks and brown spotting on and off, positive stories?

This will hopefully be our second baby, and I had 2 losses before our first was born.

first pregnancy I had an early private scan at 7 weeks, I had started getting brown spotting earlier that week but when we saw a heartbeat on the scan we were reassured. However I miscarried at 9 weeks (extremely painful and traumatic, passed the sac with it inside, about the size of a golf ball).

second loss was more like a chemical, got a line on a test then had like a period a few days later.

we started trying for number 2 in April and to our surprise I got pregnant straight away, I thought I was but got negatives on tests and then what I thought was my period arrived. Had brown spotting for a week and then realised it must not be my period, did another test and got a strong positive. Then had no spotting for a week. In the mean time I got progesterone as I had it last time with my son.

Then from Monday this week I’ve had brown again, and occasionally pink with some very tiny flecks of red. I would say I only notice it once a day, it’s a very small amount.

I am having pregnancy symptoms - aches and pains, peeing at night, tiredness, nausea. I have a scan booked for Tuesday at 8.30 and I am so nervous, and even if everything looks ok on the scan I think I will still worry because of my history.

Does anyone have any positive stories of spotting/bleeding throughout the first trimester (not just one short episode of bleeding) and everything was ok please?

I had spotting around the same time with my first pregnancy. The result of that is my 10, almost 11 year old, who spends half his time driving me around the bend in his pre-teen phase, and the other half wanting cuddles as he is still my baby (not that he'd be happy to admit that to anyone else 🤣)

I had the same, I’m 18 weeks now. It was the same when I had a MC last year but it progressed to bleeding very fast

Ive had spotting with 2 of my pregnancies, one is now 11 and the other is twins 8, my friend recently got pregnant with her first and had spotting so obviously text me for reassurance as i have 5 lol my advice to her was brown blood is old so don’t worry, pink is ok as long as its not loads, dark red isn’t as bad as you might think its generally new mixed with old so probably a hematoma (i had one with my 11yo), bright red is when you need to worry, but book a scan to be fully reassured (baby was fine and she had a hematoma) xx

Good news today! Just a sac was seen on abdominal scan which got me worried (I don’t know why they bother with these when it’s so early, I guess they want to avoid the invasive vaginal one if they can?) so I had to go to the loo, put a gown on for a vaginal scan. I’ve had a few of them before so wasn’t worried about that but I was worried that they were gearing me up to say there was no heartbeat.

I was shaking but she said well, good news, there’s a heartbeat! And showed us. I cried. Dating a week behind but I feel ok about that because I know I didn’t get a positive when my period was due, only a week later, which means I must’ve ovulated later. Or I guess baby might catch up by 12 week.

I vommed this morning too which I’m taking as a good sign! They said they don’t know why I’ve had the brown spotting but it’s very common. I know we’re not out of the woods yet, but I’m hopeful and excited now. Thanks for all your support.

Hi
Just wanted to offer some reassurance.
I had brown spotting at 9, 14, and 17 weeks pregnant.

Was really scary and I was eventually told it was due to my cervix being inflamed due to pregnancy and looked "very sore".

It is really common and think it's called cervical ectropion.

Your little bean is beautiful, good luck!

Forgot to mention the bleeding stopped after 17 weeks and didn't happen again and didn't affect my pregnancy and went on to deliver a beautiful baby boy.

@jennacass thank you so much ❤️
