False labour - Body getting ready?

Hi :)
currently 39+2 and have woken up the last 3 mornings with period cramps lower belly and lower back pain, only lasting around 1 hour and no real pattern (it’s a frustrating guessing game) and they then have tailed off.
This is my 2nd and with my 1st I was induced at the latest stage, so nothing to go on really with early labour!

This morning, same has happened and come back down but still have undertone of lower back pain - Wondering if any others have experienced this and if this could go on for days?

Thanks :)

I’m 38 weeks and have been having this on and off for about a week and a half so would also love to know others experiences! Dog has also become very clingy after ignoring me for all of my pregnancy so I’m wondering if she’s sensed a change in me.

Are you going to the toilet a lot @LynAsh? I’ve been having a lot of loose stools and my midwife seems very happy about this combined with my back pain and period like cramps.

@SarahB88 Thanks for your response! :)
I wish I were going to the toilet a lot, things do seem a little looser but not as frequent, which I know if frequent is also usually a good sign.

I’ve had a more intense (somewhat painful) ones this afternoon where I really thought… ‘I think we are on’ and again, got home they tamed right down to nothing.. Wondering if I just need to take some lactulose 🤣

Animals sense things! I would take that as a very good sign 😁

@LynAsh Having a similar experience, out shopping with my partner and thought we were go. He’s sat me down with a fizzy water and everything’s stopped!

Got everything crossed that my furry friend knows something I don’t though.

Sounds like the latent stage of labour, can last a few days.

LynAsh · 05/05/2024 17:39

@NewmummyJ Thank you - I’m assuming it’s my body trying to get itself ready and hoping the real deal is a little more obvious in pattern. You just never know with a 2nd how
quickly things could ramp and this afternoon we were out and caught in traffic, so all the thoughts were churning!

@SarahB88 Oh the draaams around it all, hoping haven’t ’shouted wolf’ that many times, that when the real deal happens there’s still some good urgency! 😅

@LynAsh I’ve come home and been really sick a runny bottom again too so I’m either a bit unwell or things are happening. Will just wait and see!

LynAsh · 06/05/2024 08:25

@SarahB88 Ooo do keep us updated!
Hoping it’s the latter 😊 (& of course, I hope you don’t feel rotten, rest up as much as you can between those episodes)

@LynAsh Nothing exciting over night but hopefully something soon! I might ring triage this afternoon if I’m not any better.
