I'm not sure what I'm looking for here - maybe a bit of reassurance! I have two DC already - both we had real struggles to conceive. This third pregnancy has come as a shock and completely unplanned. Feeling a bit irresponsible at my age to be caught off guard like this. Trying to get my head around having a baby at 40 and worried because I am in terrible shape - very overweight and not fit at all. I will do all I can to mitigate the risks and nothing motivates healthy eating and exercise like an unplanned pregnancy!

But has anyone else got stories they can share about unplanned pregnancies due to age, weight, any circumstance really, that all went ok and turned out to be blessings in disguise? I'd love to read some positive experiences to settle my nerves. Thanks!

Congratulations..
Don't overdress it. Try be sensible where possible with lifestyle and let your doctor/midwife etc do the worrying.

Similar situation here. Just found out that I am yesterday evening. Totally unplanned and I am 41 going to be 42. I am in the middle of a weightloss journey as well.
I am still in shock, I didn't even realise that I had missed my period. Took another two test this more to make sure.
I am grateful. Things happen for a reason. Fingers crossed it goes well for us both.
Just keep working out and eat healthy. Lots of exercise can be adapted to suit pregnancy.

Sending positive energy to you 😊

@MouseBatMummy congratulations dear

@MouseBatMummy, congratulations!
I gave birth at 40, overweight, and all was FINE.
Don't be too hard on yourself too. A very large proportion of pregnancies are "accidents." So this is a common occurrence, not something that doesn't happen to mature women. (In fact, as women nearing peri-menopause often ovulate irregularly or even more frequent, in the body's last ditch effort to make the most of fertility, it is VERY common).
Enjoy your pregnancy! This is a surprise but you can also celebrate it.

@Happyhappy41 Congratulations to you as well! You have such a great attitude and you are right. It's something to be grateful for. I'm going to do as you say - keep going with the healthy eating and exercise and embrace the joy of a surprise baby.

Thanks @Ruthietuthie that's sound advice! I think I worry too much about what other people think as well. I wonder if they will think god how irresponsible having a baby at her weight and age 🙈 But that's probs more in my head than others ( I hope!) And if I use it as extra motivation to get fit and healthy for this baby, myself and the rest of the family then that's a positive
