40+3, blood in phlegm - should I be worried?

Hi, I’m 40+3 (first pregnancy) and this morning I woke up with phlegm in my throat and I coughed it out, it was red and full of blood.

This has made me feel really on edge. I have had a tiny bit of a dry cough throughout the week. Google has sent me spiralling as it starts coming up with all this stuff about a PE somewhere in your lungs.

I don’t know what to do - just monitor it or mention it to someone? Any suggestions welcome…

Definitely contact your midwife/GP. Definitely not something to ignore

Yes mention it immediately.

Yes you need to be checked for a PE amongst other things.

You will only worry if you don’t get assessed anyway.

Contact the number for the hospital that’s in your notes. GP doesn’t have access to the tests you need so zero point waiting for an out of hours appointment- just get seen at the hospital ideally directly into the obstetric unit. But if not then A&E

Yes all ok - seems to be something wrong in my nose and then it had all dried into my phelgm (gross I know!) but at least nothing wrong with me :)
