Pregnancy panic

Hi everyone

I have just this morning found out I am pregnant, ClearBlue says 3+ weeks.

I'm in such a panic because I haven't had sex this month since my last period, which was a normal, heavy, crampy period. I know we haven't because I was away after my period, then my husband was away and we've both had work stress the past few weeks so it has just not happened. We definitely had sex throughout March though so it will have been March that we conceived, BEFORE my period at the end of March / start of April.

I'm also worried that I must now be about 6-7 weeks pregnant and haven't been taking folic acid 😢😢😢

Has anyone ever had a period and still had a successful pregnancy?? Also any reassurances about the folic acid? Xxx

Firstly, congratulations!

Have you arranged your booking appointment with the midwife? Discuss your concerns with them, booking appointments are carried out between 8-10 weeks (based on LMP) and they wouldn’t scan you unless you have had abdominal pain and bleeding since your last period. If you explain to the midwives that you think your last period may actually be a month earlier, I’m sure they could squeeze you an appointment in quickly however your dating scan would be 12 weeks at the earliest. Don’t worry about the folic acid. Just start taking now it will be absolutely fine :)

Congratulations like me then had a normal period in December went on with my life thought oh haven't been on my period since December turns out December was in fact implantion bleeding .. and I was 6 weeks pregnant lol mine was heavy and clotty and lasted normal 5 days !!! X

Start the folic acid now. If I were you I’d want to get a scan done ASAP to check all ok - you’d probably have to go privately though. And refer to midwife now

I wasn't taking folic acid before I got pregnant and threw up any supplements I took for the first trimester and my son is fine. Its better to take it and start now if you can.

You'll be fine! I had hypermemesis with both of mine and seriously doubt any folic acid stayed in my system from 5 weeks 😂. Ask for a dating scan x

Thanks ladies, I called the EPU and they're taking me in for a scan this afternoon. Morning sickness has hit me like a ton of bricks this morning 🤮

I had zero symptoms before today. So I suppose that is reassuring.

Thank you, scan went well. I'm 6 weeks and no real explanation for the bleeding but no harm done it seems for now ❤️

Also told not to worry about folic acid as it's so early and in a normal healthy diet I would likely be getting enough for baby anyway but just to start now.

Still shellshocked but starting to allow myself to get excited ❤️
