Cervical checks - GBS +

For all GBS + ladies, have you gotten cervical checks to check for dilation at the end of your pregnancies? I’m almost 40 full weeks today and had a cervical check today to check dilation and the cervix was completely closed but totally freaking out that GBS has been spread somehow as they touched the cervix… 😭

I don’t believe it’s an issue unless your waters go. When I was in labour, I was asking for them to check me and they said they didn’t like to do it too often due to the risk of infection when carrying GBS but that was the only time there ever seemed to be any concern.

GBS lives in the vagina so it wouldn't make any odds as it's there anyway. It only becomes relevant once the protective membranes around baby have gone ie waters break so you're all good!

Yep as above it can only get to the baby if your waters have gone. I had sweeps and checks with mine while waters were still intact. In fact mine didn’t break either time until their heads were coming out and they both ended up with no infection x
