hi ladies. bit concerned. i was on depo provera for three months - finished mid february. have had unprotected sex since then, last period finished 7th march. went to docs today with bad cramping thinking i had a urine infection which i dont have bet he asked me to take a pregnancy test. it might sound naive but it didnt even occur to me and looking at it, i have been weeing constantly for the last week or so, my breasts feel very heavy and a little sore, i am feeling queasy which eases after eating, my nose is blocked (i had a permanent cold wih my first son) and i am more emotional then usual. I put it down to being due on which i am today, but i did a test and it was negative. am i being a mental old bat? i didnt think it was possible to get pregnant for at least six months after coming off depo and i would only be at most 2 1/2 weeks? what do you think. has/did anyine else experience this,

Anything's possible. Give it another week and do another test if your period doesn't arrive. I didn't get a positive test until 6 weeks after I estimate I'd conceived.

thanks ladies. still no sign of the monthlies so i think i will take the advise of waiting a week. i walked past someone in the cafeteria who was wearing aftershave and nearly threw up on him so i suspect i already know the answer myself. always the first sign with me.

Did you get one of those early tests (though may still be a bit too early)? Good Luck, let us know next week

prettyfly1 · 03/04/2008 13:14

and the plot thickens. did another test yesterday - poss faint line but so faint think imagined - then this morning got up and threw up for no reason at all. been quite dizzy all day but also getting quite bad cramping - keep running to bathroom to check if come on. i really dont know what to think. is there anyone who has experienced this after coming off depo?

Sorry, it's a bit late to tell you now, but whilst depo can affect your fertility for up to 18 months after you come off it - you could also become pregnant immediately...as you now know....

Congrats....!?

prettyfly1 · 03/04/2008 18:45

thank you. i think i am pleased and yes that was an interesting way to find out that my fertility wasnt affected in the slightest by depo.

Nothing like a suprise, eh!? Sounds like you'll have an eventful Xmas 2009!

I thought that the possibility that depo was likely to affect my fertility would mean that DH and I could relax about TTC. If nothing happened for a while, it would be normal, rather than feeling that we were trying all the time.

What actually happened was I got pregnant the very first month we tried!

Congrats Pretty! I imagine this is a bit of a shock for you, but I hope its what you want and everything goes well for you.
