Due date and scans

Basically I have long/irregular cycles. My LMP gives me a due date of mid December however I know when I ovulated and this means I would actually be due early January. I’ve taken two digital tests and they both back up the January date. It will likely mean that I’ll actually be around 9 weeks at my “12 week scan”. Does anyone know if the NHS will scan me again at 12 weeks?

I'm the same. My ovulation date is a week later than most putting my due date early Jan rather than Christmas.

I filled out my self-referral yesterday and it only asked for my LMP so I put that. I guess when you meet with them at 8 weeks for a scan, you can mention it then?

I just think about back in the day when no one had OPKs or apps etc, all seemed to work out! ❤️ (probably easier because driving myself mad searching for stuff)

I have the same thing, and I discussed it with my midwife at my booking appointment and she changed my LMP to two weeks prior to my known ovulation date so that my 12 week scan would be at a more appropriate time. Your due date will be adjusted at your 12 week scan in any case.

Peonies12 · 25/04/2024 15:16

I’d mention it at your booking appointment as the MW might be able to request the scan is delayed to account for it. Otherwise I expect they’ll just see you for another scan once you’re actually 12 weeks or more. But most women get a different date at their scan than based on their LMP

This happened to me and I got a second 12 week scan as there are tests they do which can only happen after a certain gestation.

This happened to me and I just lied about my last period date (moved it by two weeks) to account for the discrepancy. Everything then lined up correctly.

Think on my booking form with last pregnancy I was able to add in that my cycles are longer and that I tracked ovulation so they didn’t call me for a scan until 12+4

Failing that I would just do as previous poster said and say your LMP was 2 weeks before the date you ovulated to keep things simple.

Where I live they don’t see you at 8 weeks the way some other places seem, they basically don’t want to know until you’re at 12 weeks.
