7 weeks, worried!!!

I'm currently 7 weeks pregnant. We've had 2 previous miscarriages one was a chemical and very textbook, the other was a MMC I ended up having to have surgery for after 5 weeks of waiting for it to happen naturally. Last Friday when I wiped I had this mucusy blob on the toilet paper. My immediate thought was that it was the start of another miscarriage. But it was such a small amount, I tried to stay positive. I decided to just take a photo and monitor it. Then I had nothing else for 2 days. Now since then, I've been having extremely light sporadic spotting. It's a light brown in colour and I'm seeing something between 0-2 times a day. I've had no proper bleeding but I have been having random pains and cramps. Although I feel like I've been having these the whole time. What's worrying me most is the more I look at the photo I took, the more I worry it looks like it could be the baby. Am I being crazy? My husband just thinks I'm seeing things, like picking shapes in the clouds. What do you guys think? I haven't called anyone about it yet, as I had read the spotting can be normal and it's so light I'd feel like I was wasting their time.

Hi @Janke23 sorry I haven’t looked at the photos but the EPU will see you if you’ve got spotting & had previous losses. I had spotting a few weeks ago & had a scan at EPU and was given progesterone to take. They advise it if you’ve had a loss before & are spotting this time round

Hi, thanks for the reply.
I know they would probably see me. I'm a bit reluctant to get an early scan, as I had one with my MMC and they said it looked good we saw the heartbeat and they labelled it as viable. Then we had a follow up scan a week later and found out it hadn't developed at all since the first scan. I know that it will have just been a big coincidence but it's really put me off.

I swear I was a perfectly sane person before all this trying for a baby business. 🙈

There's no real way to be sure without a scan but I had brown spotting from about 8 weeks until 13/14 weeks.. currently 32 weeks and all good so far.
I had a MMC last year and finally bled at 9 weeks, there was a lot of blood and big clots way bigger and more than you have shown here. It really is a horribly anxious time but unless you have heavy bleeding and/or severe pain they say there is no need to be concerned

Figtree11 · 25/04/2024 11:55

@Janke23 i understand, my MC was a MMC so know the fear. But you might worry regardless even if you don’t have a scan as it will always be at the back of your mind. They couldn’t find any reason for my spotting this time so it gave me reassurance. And feel like I’m doing something with the progesterone

Latenightanxiety · 25/04/2024 12:26

I’ve had pregnancies with spotting or heard of pregnancy with spotting and it could really go either way unfortunately but it definitely does not rule anything out either. There are plenty of different reasons that this could happen and most places say it’s more worrying if it’s bright red.

jf you ring the EPU and they scan you, there is a chance they can identify why a bleed happened. We had a little sack of fluid that they saw on ours that could explain it and also we were carrying multiples which also comes with an increased chance of spotting.

I'm so sorry you've got this worry.
I had a lot of miscarriages so I sympathise.
I don't think that's the baby in your pictures.

Most women have more pain and bleeding if they are having a miscarriage, but obviously that's not always the case.

I had similar brown bleeding at this stage, and was convinced it was bad news, but the baby was actually fine.

You need to go and be scanned. I truly hope you get good news.

Have you booked yet? If so, I would ring into your local midwifery team for advice. They will probably send you to the EPU or at least see if they can get you in for an early confirmation scan.

twoandcooplease · 25/04/2024 17:17

I would call epu - I'm sure given your history of MC they would want to check you

Peonies12 · 25/04/2024 20:36

I’d go to EPU, they should see you more quickly with a history of MC. I had bleeding at 6 weeks, and had a scan and it was fine but there was a little bleed round the baby. I’m 17 weeks now and no more bleeding. They can only ever tell you whats happening in that moment but at least you’d know either way for now. They also may be able to prescribe you progesterone

How are you, @Janke23?
