Bleeding 13 weeks

Hi all,

Had scan Tuesday, baby was measuring at 12 weeks 4 days and all was well. However last night I noticed blood when I wiped straight after an episode of being sick. This turned into a gush of blood which was a substantial amount of bright red bleeding, although I have had no cramps to go with it. I have slight tenderness and mild cramps throughout the night. Bleeding has eased off to more of a period flow but not painful like my usual cycles.

Went A&E last night and been referred to EPAS but they can't see me until tomorrow. Has anyone had similar experiences or any advice?
Thank you

I had 2 miscarriages and if you was having a miscarriage you would be in alot of pain so this is a good sign that you not in alot pain , I am guessing that you lost fluid mix blood ,hope everything is OK, I am now pregnant again no bleeding and 15 weeks gone ,good luck hun x

Let us know if you OK and baby x

yes, same thing happened to me. It was a Subchorionic Hematoma. My baby was fine, which felt a miracle with such heavy bleeding.

Fingers crossed all is ok for you. I know it’s such a worry. Rest up and no heavy lifting was advised for me.

@Coco2323343 sorry you're going through this. I had similar. Healthy 12wk scan measuring 12+4 and then had a bleed with some small clots at 13+4. It was a Friday night so I had to wait until the Monday afternoon for a scan. Little one was fine and they couldn't see any obvious cause for a bleed. Best guess was something to do with the cervix. Currently 23+4 and had no bleeds since. I know how scary it is - I also had three losses last year so was very triggered seeing blood. Hopefully yours is a similar outcome and just one of those random things. X

I had three of these bleeds in first trimester. Really scary, but every time it was okay. Have a private scan as a reassurance after each. It really helped me.

Hello everyone,

Thank you for sharing your experiences. Will keep you updated with what is going on after my appointment tomorrow morning. Still period like bleeding at this moment so quite anxious but hopefully all will be OK and stay positive that we saw baby on Tuesday and everything was fine then.

Thank you all x

No advice OP, just letting you know you’re not alone with this worry. I’m 17 weeks and had a bleed on Monday - went to A&E and the gynaecologist was able to see a heartbeat on the basic scanner, and confirmed there was quite a bit of blood but cervix closed. I’ve been told I need a proper detailed scan to try to find the cause of the bleeding but they haven’t told me when yet (me and midwife have both been chasing). Even though I know it’s most likely ok because of what the gynae told me, the anxiety this week has been horrendous, so I completely understand how you’re feeling. Hugs from another anxious mum-to-be!

Hi all.

Good news, everything is fine with baby. Oblivious to anything going on all healthy. The cause could of been as my womb is moving upwards to my tummy, could of been blood outside the womb. This is why it gushed out quite rapidly. Another woman was in at 13 weeks before me with the same problem. Hope this helps anyone looking at this forum in future.

Thank you all for the reassurance it has really helped with stress xxxx
