Has anyone out there been to gigs/concerts/clubs with very loud music during pregnancy? I've agreed to go to a gig this week with a huge band in a very small venue (I've been in the past and it's loud enough to warrant wearing protective ear plugs if you're paranoid like me!)but I've just read that you should 'avoid excessive noise on a regular basis' Does this mean that a one-off is ok? Think the gig only lasts an hour or so.Sorry-sounds a stupid question but I'm freaking out about somehow damaging my baby now!! I'm 24 weeks preg.

I went to see Take That when I was 28 weeks pg.

Baby kicked like mad and even now he's 19 months he likes listening to them

Its absolutely fine.

i went clubbing at 30 weeks lol

PerkinWarbeck · 31/03/2008 21:47

First time I've heard that!

I've no scientific knowledge to reassure you with, but I carried on going to gigs throughout pregnancy, and DD is fine. I'm sure lots of others will say the same.

I went to see Duran Duran(!) at 31 weeks - even missing my antenatal class to do so! The noise was fine - having to stand was not such a great plan though!

i went to the loudest sound installation at an art gallery when i was pg - i was a bit worried about it when i realised how ear splitting it was actually and nearly left, but dd is absolutely fine -i think i was about 12 wks at that stage.

Saw Sterophonics 9 days before EDD - dd loves music!

I sang in a (very loud rock) band every weekend until 36 weeks and did us no harm . Just stay away from the crowds if possible and keep water with you in case it gets hot

I went to a rock concert when I was teeny tiny pg.

Then again when I was 39 weeks.

BAby fine.

Thanks loads for your experiences. I'll try to relax about it now and just enjoy the gig.

I worked in radio/live events all through my pregnancy. Never had any problems, and H&S at my work OK'd it, so couldn't have been that bad.

I go to gigs all the time, and listen to loud music whilst doing the housework and driving. At 25 weeks, baby is starting to dance along so I'm careful not to expose him/her to anything like James Blunt, or any of the other beige, wishy washy crap that seems to be on the radio constantly. Just make sure you expose the baby to quality and don't fret too much about the quantity!

Went to see Kings of Leon when I was about 26 weeks pg. Ds is a rawk baby!

hellsbells76 · 01/04/2008 13:55

i went to see the pixies early on in my last pregnancy and bellowhead 2 weeks before i was due, both very loud (and won't forget the nervous looks from everyone around me as i was jumping around like a nutter - sure some of them thought they should get the hot water and towels on standby)...
