I have had 5 babies before and never had this. I get a bad stitch 2-3 times a day

Googled it and nothing and looked on here and a few of you have definitely had this at around this stage

can i pick your brains please!?

  1. will it go
  2. what causes it ?

dp said 'build up of lactic acid' should i do something about it? i am not particularly big yet but feel i am now having to sit around or hobble about to prevent them

this cannot be right can it?

can it?

AnotherFineMess · 31/03/2008 21:49

I had this with DS2, Paula (have you changed your name mid-thread or are there 2 of you?)

Soeone told me it was called 'rib flare' and caused by expansion under your ribs. The only thing that helped was stretching my arm above my head to elongate myself a bit...or going to bed and eating, ha.

Hope it gets better soon

MissPaulaYates · 31/03/2008 21:55

thankyou it is still me!!

my pain is very low though and no rib flare yet as not big enough...!

AnotherFineMess · 31/03/2008 21:56

Pelvic muscles stretching? Does it feel like a burning sensation that is worse by the end of the day?

MissPaulaYates · 31/03/2008 21:57

its deffo not spd

it is just like a stitch the type one would get on a cross country - now its a cross-room!

vicsta · 31/03/2008 22:06

I had this too, started about 26wks for me and peaked about 2 wks later. Couldn't walk as far as the loo without getting it. Don't really know what causes it, I assumed it was OK coz it felt just like a stitch. Though one day it was bad enough for me to convince my paranoid self that it was appendicitis. Thankfully not. May be trapped wind? Not being v helpful, I know, but I was not overly worried about it and now (31 wks) it seems to have passed (fingers crossed).

MissPaulaYates · 31/03/2008 22:15

so there is hope!

but could get worse yet?? wonder what is causing it?

vicsta · 31/03/2008 22:22

I do honestly think it must be something to do with our digestive systems slowing down, tho, now I think about it, I only ever got it on my right side. Baby squishing something? Those useless round ligaments?

MissPaulaYates · 31/03/2008 22:40

mine is mostly left!!

dp says it could be linked to anaemia as lactic acid released when body anaerobic????

something clever like that!

disneystar · 01/04/2008 09:32

i get this to on my right side when it comes the pain is so intense i cant walk for a while till it goes its a sickening kinda stitch pain.in my ignorance i always thought baby was lying on a nerve or something
i also get it a lot at night both sides
i massage my tummy to get him to move and it sort of works.
this one feels huge now but as i have very big babies im not suprised !!
hope it sorts itself out soon for you

Hi Paula long time no see" (waves from July thread!)

I've been getting this too, mainly on my right rather than left though. Like disney, massaging it seems to help but it is quite annoying. Can't remember having it last time round.

If it's really awful though maybe check with midwife or gp? Sorry not much help just wanted you to know that you're not alone with this one. x

Hi Paula - I have this too. I just thought it was stitch as I am pretty unfit at the moment and everything is more of an effort. Didn't get it last two times. Nothing seems to help me when it hits,, other than resting. It makes you feel so helplass as I really can't walk faster than a snails pace and normally I rush or run everywhere!

Hope it goes soon for all of us.

MissPaulaYates · 01/04/2008 20:33

thanks for making me feel this is normal girls.

seems to apply particularly at this exact stage of pregnancy which makes me feel it may well pass soon

i actually think EATING helps!! if that is possible!
