Bloody stringy discharge

It started as pale pinkish/brown spotting which later turned into this bloody stringy discharge. I've never had this before. After this I started bleeding.

Does anyone know what it could mean?

Are you pregnant? How far along? Any other symptoms (cramping etc)?

@2mumlife I have irregular cycles but I should be somewhere from 6-7 weeks... Mild cramping but I've been cramping whole time... Is it bad? 🙁

I would call your local early pregnancy unit. Always best to get checked out as only they can confirm what is or isn't wrong.

I had bleeding throughout my first trimester and sometimes even red (luckily all is okay as nearly 14 weeks).

But to ease your mind please call them and get checked!

@Honeybabes early pregnancy units will normally see you from 6 weeks, so as @Strawbs92 says I'd give them a call and they will be able to advise. I've had some bleeding in both pregnancies, and some stringy discharge like that with my DD and everything was fine. If you're soaking through pads quickly then definitely give EPU a call.

@Strawbs92 Hey, thank you. I will give them a call... I truly hope it's nothing serious... What was your bleeding like & what was the cause? x

@2mumlife wow thank you so much... thankfully I'm not bleeding that heavily just yet... what was your bleeding from?

@Honeybabes With my first pregnancy I had a massive subchorionic haematoma (SCH). I had a lot of dramatic bleeding (massive gush of blood in the middle of a work meeting - luckily I work from home) and an anxious night before I got a scan the next day and confirmed foetal heartbeat. I bled for a few days. The SCH resolved by the 12 week scan.

Second pregnancy was just unexplained bleeding, but didn't have any stringy bits / clots that time. Just had some light bleeding on a couple of occasions. Called EPU and they weren't concerned as was very light and no cramping.

They never found a cause for mine. I had a bleed at 6, 7, 9 and 12 weeks!
They said the 6/7 week bleeds were potentially implantation where baby was getting cosy.
