I had the period pains, but I also had a show. My waters didn't go until the midwife examined me at 10cm. Sounds as though it could be it! Good luck.

All the best if this is it for you

How many weeks are you?

I've been having the same symptoms on and off for about a week and half now. Sometimes they fade away, and sometimes they're really awful - particularly at night for some reason. My lower tummy aches loads, and feels almost bruised sometimes. I've had to resort to paracetamols so I can sleep sometimes.

I haven't got a clue about what it is. I'm just presuming it's all the ligaments etc loosening up down there in preparation for birth.

I've not had a show, and my waters haven't broken either, I'm 38 weeks now. Having said that, this is my second pregnancy and I didn't get a show at all last time, and my waters didn't break until I had started with contracgtions then either. I've had a fair bit of back pain recently too, have you had that too? It could just be me carrying extra weight though, rather than the onset of labour?

I dunno! So much of this is guesswork. Well, at least you know you're not on your own! I just want this birth stuff over and done with. Hope your labour, when it starts, goes as painlessly and as quickly as possible! Best of luck to you.

Race ya!

Bluebella · 06/04/2008 17:54

I'm in the race too - I am 38 weeks today! Also having crampy pains! But they tend to come and go, and have been having them for several weeks, so don't think it's a sign of early labour for me...!
