Pregnancy after ectopic

I had a ectopic pregnancy 4 months ago in my right fallopian tube but it was able to be treated with medication.
I'm currently 5 weeks and 2 days my anxiety is really getting to me. Today I started spotting brown blood and getting sharp cramps on my right side and I'm afraid it's another ectopic.

I fell pregnant 4 months after an ectopic which had been treated with methotrexate. I definitely experienced pains in the location of the previous ectopic. I don't know if it was the corpus luteum, or scar tissue stretching from the previous ectopic but I was so anxious and convinced it was another ectopic. The EPU scanned at 6w and everything was normal and healthy. I hope it's the same for you, have you got an early scan booked in to check everything? I know the wait is awful :(

Go for a private scan at 6 weeks. Should hopefully be ok 🤞🤞

I had an ectopic after a cycle of IVF and then fell pregnant naturally a month later. It was a real surprise given that we thought we needed IVF to fall pregnant but it all worked out. The odds are in your favour that it won't be another ectopic but if you go for a scan at 6 weeks you'll catch it early on the off chance that it is. Spotting is pretty common....had that in successful and unsuccessful cycles! Good luck!

Do you have an EPU at your hospital? I had a scan at 6 weeks for both my pregnancies after an ectopic. I was advised to contact them for a scan if/when I got pregnant again.

I also had pain but the pregnancies were fine, I think the pain was from scar tissue. Please contact the EPU tomorrow to put your mind at rest.

My doctor has referred me to EPU I'm just waiting on a date. Thanks for the bit of reassurance I'm just finding the anxiety of it being another ectopic alot and have no one to talk to that has been through it before that understands

Your anxiety is understandable, it's tough waiting to see. I'm glad your doctor has referred you to the EPU.

I had pain and was so worried, I'd almost convinced myself it was going to happen again. The relief when I saw a heart beat was amazing.

From my experience, some pain is normal. You're also hyper alert to any twinges, whereas before you'd just think you'd eaten too much!

The odds are good, try to remind yourself of that if you start spiralling.

I would go and get a scan.

I had an ectopic two years ago. Mine ruptured at 7+3 and I needed emergency surgery and lost my right tube.

With my second pregnancy, I had an early scan booked at 5+4 but started bleeding at 5+2. As it was a Saturday EPU were closed and gynaecology told me to go to A&E for an early scan. They were able to confirm the pregnancy was in the uterus but I did miscarry.

With my third pregnancy I had an early scan at 5+3 to confirm the location and a viability scan at 7+3.

Try not to worry, you'll be hyper alert to every twinge but if EPU don't get you a scan soon I'd go to A&E to get a scan. My bleeding at 5+2 with my second pregnancy was treated very seriously given my history so you should be able to access a scan via that route if needed.

@Oshea24 how did this turn out for you? I know it was a year ago but I hope you got your rainbow 🌈

I’m in a similar situation right now, I had an ectopic back in early February which was the most traumatic experience of my life. I was on fertility treatment due to infertility, I had previously had an early loss back in July 24 which was also whilst on treatment and this was meant to be my rainbow baby. After the ectopic, I stopped my clomid protocol to wait for the specialist to approve a laparoscopy to check if endo was at play, Also to check my tube health and uterus before ttc again. By some miracle i got a BFP a few days ago which was a completely natural conception and a happy surprise. However, I have had pretty similar pains from my ectopic, on the same side with this pregnancy. I’d say it feels exactly the same actually, a burning dull ache that is localised in my left hip/pelvic area and radiates to my back. Also the same pressure in my bum. It feels all too familiar and I am convinced it’s another ectopic. I kept both tubes and I’m positive there’s scarring/damage. I’m almost mad at myself for allowing this to happen again before investigations can happen, and so soon after as well? I didn’t know it was possible for me to conceive naturally and should have been more careful, which feels mad to say after 3 years of infertility. Worst of all, I found out I was pregnant this time at 9dpo (3 weeks 2 days), so I have 3 weeks to wait to find out. Because I hadn’t missed my period yet, EPU were only willing to do one initial blood test to confirm pregnancy. It was 25.4 at 10dpo. So I don’t really have any clues from bloods either.

if anyone who has had a similar experience and it not turn out to be ectopic sees this, please fill me with positive thoughts! Because I feel like it’s an inevitability that this will be ectopic too.
