When do ectopic symptoms begin?

I am currently 4+6 but since 4+3 I’ve had what I’d describe as a niggling pain in my left side, low down near where I believe the ovary is. It is constantly a dull ache but will sometimes feel like a sharp pinching pain. Would this be too early to notice symptoms?

No it’s not too early for symptoms. I had side pain from about 5w that I thought was trapped wind. Fallopian tubes are very small and paper thin.

I’m sure I remember a similar post about this a few days back, was it you? Did you manage to get your hcg monitored properly in hosp if so?

sometimes the ovary which releases the egg which has been fertilised leaves behind a cyst ( corpus luteum) and this can often result in some pain and discomfort, it could be that.

are you constipated at all? If so try lots of fibre and see if that helps?

Id get in touch with EPU, it may be nothing but it's better to be safe then sorry. When I had an ectopic I was 6 weeks gone and had a dull throbbing pain on my left side low down, wasn't excruciating pain but more of a constant niggle.

I’ve got a scan on Thursday, hopefully I’ll know more then. Where would you say the pain was?

And if you pushed down where you could feel the pain, would it hurt even more?

I'm not an expert but just had investigations for a possible ectopic (turned out to be "just" an early miscarriage) and one of the things try why kept asking about was tenderness so I'd expect that to be a possible symptom. I hope you get seen soon.

I didn’t have any symptoms with my ectopic, apart from less nausea than my other pregnancies.

LW678 · 15/04/2024 12:43

@Revelatio how did you find out if you don’t mind me asking?

Hello, I am in a very similar situation. Can I please ask how your scan went?

birdsongfromtheshedroof · 05/08/2024 14:25

I had a ruptured ectopic at 4w3d.
Felt like I had indigestion. No other symptoms until after it ruptured and I started internal bleeding, then I got the excruciating shoulder pain.
Definitely worth getting checked if you're unsure x

All was fine and currently 21 weeks pregnant! :)

Aw lovely, congratulations and thanks for the response

LW678 · 05/08/2024 18:32

No problem. I’m sure all is fine with you but always worth checking, especially to put your mind at risk
