Hi Everyone

This is my first time pregnant and we have tried for so long I think I'm stressing over everything.

I recently found out i was pregnant. From the first day of my last period I should be 6 weeks pregnant today and from the natural cycles app that I track with, my day of ovulation/conception was 14/03 so 3 weeks 5 days ago. So I expected the Clearblue pregnancy test to show 3+ weeks.

I took a test today (09/04) as other than a missed period and swollen breasts ive had no other signs of pregnancy other than some cramps that have started again over the last couple of days so I took another test just to check and it still showed as pregnant but still only 1-2 weeks.

I know this can indicate that my HCG levels may be low which can impact on the pregnancy.

Can anyone provide any advice on this?

It’s a difficult one. For some people it doesn’t rise and there are no issues at all. For me (many miscarriages!), it’s always been a good indication that something is wrong, but that is not the case for everyone. Could you get a private scan to put your mind at rest? I’ve done this in the past as I much prefer to know if something is wrong straight away. Now I get scanned at 6w at the hospital due to recurrent miscarriage, so if you think you’re 6w they should be able to see something.

@Revelatio thanks yes ill look into that. Ive contacted my doctor also just and waiting for a response from the online form ive completed.

It could mean something or it could mean nothing, and there’s no way of knowing without HCG bloods or a scan. The GP will not do bloods just based off that test so if you are able you could always book a private early scan for peace of mind. I would really advise waiting until 7 weeks to have a scan though because earlier than that, depending on implantation etc, the scan could be inconclusive just due to it being too soon and could only cause more worry. Good luck x

Here to reassure you it doesn't mean anything. I had a pregnancy last year where the weeks test progressed perfectly from 1-2 to 3+, and then I had a miscarriage at 9 weeks. Then I got pregnant again around the new year, and the tests did not progress as they should, I didn't get a 3+ until I was almost 7 weeks pregnant. I'm now 19 weeks with a healthy wiggly baby. Try to relax and focus on something else as its just not very accurate.

@Mrsttcno1 thank you. I will definitely look into a scan.

@WolfMother326 thank you for that. That's really helped me to feel better. Hope you and your wiggly baby are both doing well ☺️

In truth you won't know, that happened in all my chemical pregnancies...

But then it happened and was 1-2 for 2 weeks, so till 6 weeks pregnant, then 2-3 and never went above that and i am 33 weeks pregnant 😅 with a very healthy boy.

I was convinced it was another chemical, went to pick up contraception to give up trying as had all my usual miscarriage signs..but big surprise 😂

@Picklesjar20 that is amazing news. Very happy for you. Hope everything is going well.

Honestly the fear these new advanced tests give you they really shouldn't be invented haha.

I know this is an old thread but I'm wondering how you got on @JJV571989 ? I am in the same boat with 1-2 weeks showing last weekend when my period was 3 days late. I tested again this weekend and it's still showing 1-2 weeks. I had a MMC last summer so I'm worried about miscarrying again but my body not recognising it.

Update?

I don't know about OP, but I did miscarry about a week later. Naturally this time, which I have to say was emotionally and physically easier than the MMC. I had a bad feeling from when I got the positive test tbh. Miscarried around 6/7 weeks. Currently 25 weeks pregnant though, so a happy ending!

So sorry to hear. Wishing you all the very best with this pregnancy!!
I'm currently so very early, 4 weeks 4 days but today morning I got my 3+ on digital! X

Mine didn’t progress more than 1-2 weeks and that baby is now 2 years old ☺️ I did bleed a lot in that pregnancy and it was very chaotic, but she is here!
