When did those of you with anterior placentas first feel definite movement?

Hi everyone, I was told at my gender scan last week that my placenta is ‘fundal anterior’ so it’s at the top and front.

This is my third pregnancy, with my two sons my placenta was low lying and then as my bump grew it turned posterior. With those two pregnancies I felt movement from 16 weeks but this time I’m 18 weeks and I’ve felt nothing.

Well, I’ve felt the tiniest popping and taps very very rarely but nothing that has yet to make me think ‘omg that’s the baby’ if you know what I mean.

So I was wondering, when did those of you with anterior/fundal placentas feel movement? I’m trying not to worry as it’s been so different to my pregnancies with my sons but I do know in my logical moments that it’s normal. 😅

@L00k4m3x I felt my little girl at 19 weeks but I was expecting much later! She got very strong then very quickly and my DH felt her from 20 or 21 weeks 😅
When I went for my 20 week scan she asked before we started if I'd felt anything yet and I said I'd felt a few movements all on my right side- once she started scanning it turns out my placenta was low, anterior and more on my left side which explains why I could feel her on the right 😊

Bit of bubbly/butterfly sensations around 18-19 weeks but very subtle and sporadic, proper movement was around 22 weeks. First baby and anterior low lying placenta..

I felt a definite flutter at exactly 21 weeks. Later in my pregnancy, I once went into the antenatal unit for monitoring due to reduced foetal movement. It turned out my baby was fine and moving around a lot - I just couldn’t feel most of the movements.

It was probably around 22 weeks for me if I remember correctly, and even then very subtle

Definite movements around 20 weeks and from there it's just got stronger. I'm now 28 weeks and I still don't feel much at all on the right side where my placenta is. It's my first pregnancy so I was getting anxious to feel movement, especially when those with posterior placenta etc can feel so much earlier. But it came in the end! Latest developer is foetus seems to like prodding my bladder!

Was around 22 weeks for definite movement, maybe occasional flutters beforehand but 22 weeks before it was obvious

21 first time and 19 second time x

About 23 weeks for me

HedgehogB · 05/04/2024 13:54

DIL felt baby at 20 weeks with anterior placenta

Isitisit · 05/04/2024 13:56

I’m 22 weeks and have been having strong kicks from about 21 weeks. Before that I felt little bubbles from around 18 weeks.

MushroomQueen · 05/04/2024 15:08

24 weeks - felt like forever with my 1st anterior - my last was posterior and was felt at 17 weeks so a big difference

EMJL · 05/04/2024 15:20

I'm 22w today and have been getting proper kicks for about 5/6 days now. Some days more than others! It's definitely anxiety inducing x

Thanks so much everyone for your responses, you definitely put my mind at ease yesterday!

Also I was laying in bed last night on my back and I felt her move super obviously for the first time, she was very low down so it must be the placenta cushioning movements when she’s up higher. It made me so happy! 🥹
