Hi all - I’m 25w4d and have been flagged as having “moderate” risks and get consultant appointments alongside midwife care.

My risk factors are: age (39 - will be 40 when I give birth), my mum had clotting which travelled to the lung when pregnant with me, weight. On the weight factor, my bmi was 29 at booking in, rounded up to 30 by midwife given other factors. Consultant and midwife both seem to see my age and weight as more borderline issues and don’t seem too concerned by them.

My journey to pregnancy not straightforward due to endometriosis and low ovarian reserve, and I had 3 failed IVF rounds before falling pregnant naturally.

I’ve been to the consultant this week and prescribed Tinzaparin blood thinning injections twice a day, due to the three risk factors above. So far, pregnancy has been going well, blood pressure perfect and no sign of clotting issues.

Just wondered if anyone in the same boat with preventative blood thinners and if there is anything I should be considering before taking them?

I trust the consultant and their judgement - and aware family history makes it prudent to look at - it just feels strange to be injecting heparin twice a day with no indication of a specific problem.
